EDIT: Ellen DeGeneres is on the spot light for toxic and abusive environment of her namesake show. This episode, particularly the behind-the-scenes snippets, is eery and at times disturbing. While I think this episode is still one of the standouts of this series, watching it again challenges what I thought was authentic profile of a very talented LGBTQ pioneer, but likely an abuser herself.

My original review as follows:

Like almost everyone on this planet, I loved Ellen DeGeneres's performances in Finding Nemo and Finding Dory as well as numerous interviews from her The Ellen DeGeneres Show and standup routines that are now immortalized on YouTube.

Watching this very personal, very poignant, yet very funny interview, it is difficult not to go through a range of emotions. But I am always anchored by two constants: big smile and pride. She overcame so much obstacles that any one would've easily destroyed an average person. Yet she always stayed true, courageous, yet very funny.

And David Letterman does what he does best. Bringing authenticity very carefully, raising the stake one bit at a time, until the audience is fully satisfied.
