The casting is really off. Compston is nearly 20 years younger than his supposed classmates.
[Filmin] Although the performances of both are correct, it is somewhat strange that two actors twenty years apart play two childhood friends. But in this drama about death that is based on the union of a permanent friendship, this bond between the characters is well built, although the flashbacks about youth in 1986 are somewhat conventional. Ashley Jones makes a character that could have been too antagonistic understandable and moving, but the description of the most dramatic moments is subtle enough not to fall into easy melodrama.

Heartbreaking
I had to stop watching a number of times, found myself having to go outside to catch my breath as it felt I couldn’t breath at times.
Now that it is finished my head aches, my jaw is almost locked shut, my shoulder blades feel as if they are brushed and aching….
This show leaves you feeling exhausted and drained, I just couldn’t breath in enough oxygen at times…..
The only gripe I have is the blatant age gap between the two lead actors, that could have easily been avoided by having the same gap between the young versions of the characters….
