I like how they put some real music band/singers/rappers in the tv show. Really nice.
This was one of the best episodes yet. Luke was at his essence, where he is a genuinely righteous guy who wants to protect everyone in Harlem, even if they're Mariah or Bushmaster. The fight scenes are brilliant. The writers have continued to make Shades a more dynamic character by giving him depth, but still keeping him smart, calculated and ruthless. Every time Misty uses her bionic arm I feel such a rush, because I want it to lead to Daughters of Dragon. At this point, neither Luke nor the audience knows who to root for and that's what makes it amazing. I just hope Shades makes it to next season... this season has made him my absolute favourite.
I love me some Shades!
A new drug under the name "Bushmaster" starts going around Harlem and Bushmaster follows the Chinese back to their warehouse where he and Luke stop their operation. Mariah continues to act fearlessly and bold by planning a huge free party at Harlem's Paradise to show she isn't afraid of anything. Shades gives a very detailed confession about all of his crimes dating back as early as his time at Seagate with Luke before he got out of prison. Misty, terrified by what she has learned, steps out of the interregation room for a moment to catch her breath. (This one-shot scene I thought was especially a nice touch with exceptional performances for Misty and Shades.) That night at the party, Bushmaster arrives with a super shot of Nightshade in his system and pursues Mariah. Mariah takes Shades into her lair and tells Shades she knows he went to the cops and is wearing a wire. Bushmaster breaks down the reinforced door and attacks Shades and Mariah. Luke and Misty come down into the lair and everyone's fighting each other. Luke grabs Bushmaster in a headlock and Mariah yells, "Kill him!" Luke releases him and Bushmaster runs from the scene injured. Shades hands over Mariah's gun to Misty and Misty arrests Mariah. This is hands down the best episode this season and the filming, the action and suspense doesn't skip a single beat.
I'm so glad there's only one episode of this shit left. Season 2 of this show stretched out the simplest plot soooo long.
Weird episode where they set up a storyline with a new drug and an alliance with the chinese to basically close it 10 minutes later.
I'm a little conflicted about the Shades confession. On one side there is this defiant attitude to cops. He wants to rub in everything he's been getting away with. But on the other, he's always been all business, I don't think he enjoyed the killings, and that makes him look like he had fun, killing Candace for instance, which goes against pretty much everything we saw of him until now.
The Bushmaster/Luke combo is good, and the fight better than with Danny.
Not clear why Luke is still protecting Mariah. He did a whole speech about not doing it again. Then ok, he explains he need to be there to stop collateral damage. But Bushmaster came, avoided people, there was no collateral damage. So why doesn't he just walk away ?
Bushmaster going all crazy on the door was cool. The fight with Luke, Misty and Shades not that much. Again it didn't work, looked to much like if they were reviewing the choregraphy instead of actually playing it.
How well the music sounds in this series. Preparing the season finale
This show is getting stupid now.

This storyline of Luke still not wanting to kill Mariah after all the people she butchered is getting really old and it frankly makes no sense. I get the whole acting like a good person who doesn’t kill anyone but then there has to be a sort of character development, otherwise the whole series is just about a guy beating up people but not accomplishing anything. Daredevil didn’t kill people either but the character development and his journey were amazing, and you can really see him struggle with his good and evil sides. Luke Cage is seriously the most boring character in this series. He accomplishes literally nothing and everything good about the show comes from either Misty or Bushmaster or Shades.
