the fight scenes!! omg, i loved it ❤️
One of the best "pilot" episodes I've seen. This episode is a great introduction of the show's principal team of Matt, Foggy and Karen. Introducing Karen as a victim of the underbelly of cop corruption, while Matt and Foggy work to right the wrongs of society as lawyers is a great setup to the premise of the show. Together the three underdogs willn work together to help the injustices of the law. Matt as Daredevil will be the hero who helps those who cannot defend themselves from the corrupt underbelly of the city.
This first episode feels more like an opening chapter of a great book, than a pilot episode that is just testing the waters. "Into the Ring" jumps head first into the water and swims with a strong and crisp story, that does not leave a single minute of screentime or dialogue to aimlessly wander. Each shot, each word is a much needed brick in the foundation of the show (in story, background, character, visual style and expectations for the shows amazing fight scenes, which Charlie Cox is supurve at).
Favs: The friendship between Matt and Foggy, and the ease with which Foggy talks about Matt's blindness to the point of joking about it.; Matt's softness with Karen as he works to gain her trust, even when he knows she is lying and hiding something from him.
I love how they reference the Battle of New York
Maybe I am a bit to late to watch it (but really it is never to late to start watching a good show, right?). I wouldn't say that it hooked me from the very start. And it was a bit to stretched as for the pilot. I wanted more action. However I will defensively watch at least few more episodes to learn more about the character and maybe get involved more into the storyline.
Man this was one amazing pilot episode, setting up some furture themes, estbalishing all the main characters, and amazing cinematography to boot too. I'm liking this Matt Murdock character, looks like a big part of his character is fighting for what he believes is justice, both through the legal system and by vigilantism, helping out those who are struggling. And it seems like his superpowers came after that accidnet he had as a child, with his other senses being greatly enhanced after losing his sight. Also, it looks like Matt's dad was a massive inspiration to Matt, someone who he looked up too, viewing as a fighter who never gave up, and to some extent can relate to, with Matt's dad having a darker rage within himself which he constanlty feels the need to let out. I had to assume for Matt that came from what he's been witness to growing up in hell's Kitchen, this city with seems to be mired with political corruption, violennce, and poverty. Also, I like Matt's attorny assistant Foggy nelson, he seems like a cool dude who while not being a bad person, doesnt have the rich sense of justice with Matt holds, with Foggy not really caring about the innocence of his clients jsut wanting a job. Also, Im looking forward to seeing more of the woman Karen Page, someone else who also fights for what's right through her own means, with Karen keeping the pension file of her corrupt company which was embezzling funds, presumably to expose what her company was partaking in. Also, man is Hell's Kitchen full of corruption, looks like this Union Allied company isnt the only business engaing in corrupt financial practices, it seems theres a whole ring of these corrupt business moguls in hell's Kitchen who are profiting off of things like unregulated labour practices to finance themselves. And Daredevil and lawyer Matt Murdock is hot on the trail of these corrupt business pratcies infesting Hell's Kitchen. Also, I just gotta say, the fighting choreagraphy was amazing, it felt so realtisitc like there was real weight behind each punch thrown, the hand-to-hand combat was just beautiful. And some of the scenes were jsut so beautiful man, my favourites from today's episode were Matt's confession; sounds Matt' practicing boxing with it being overlayed with everything corurpt goign on in Hell's Kitchen, almsot as if he's tirelessly and unsuccessly tryign to take out all that's wrong with the city; the ending scene where Matt in his Daredevil outfit is looking down on the city, taking in all the sounds and bearing witness to all the corruption going on. Man I can't wait for more of this show. Also, looks like the Matt and Foggy team has a new member, Karen Page, can't wait to see them working together. And man, the way thsi show convey's Matt's enhanced senses is so good, the hyperfixation on certain sounds around Matt really emphasizs the extent of his ability and shows us how Matt experiences the world.
watching this again cause netflix is removing all of their marvel shows
Matty: "I can't see! I can't see!"
Foggy: "Thanks buddy!"
Karen: "So how long have you been practicing law?"
Matt: "What time is it?"
Foggy: "It's 12:22 a.m."
Matt: "About seven hours."
Matt: "I believe you Miss Page."
Matt: "Yeah the world watched half of New York get destroyed. That's a lot of sympathy."
Karen: "And, really, I can't put you out of your bedroom. I'll just just fine fine on the couch."
Matt: "From, uh, what I understand about my living room, that might not be true."
[Karen discovers the giant billboard outside.]Karen: "How do you comb your hair?"
Matt: "Honestly, you just— you hope for the best."
Leland: "It's freezing this high up."
James: "As I said... we're handling it."
6/10
Coming from having watch the new Marvel Disney Plus series, this really blows them out of the water. Wherein 2021 Marvel treat its series like movies in parts, Drew Goddard applies the good old tv series format, that works splendidly for a superheroe like Daredevil, being kind of a legal show, having a case per episode, but also working a greater scheme. It really doesn't do anything out of the ordinary, but having a pretty solid and senseful direction —focusing on having the narrative clear rather than being "mindblowing"—, makes it a lot more substantial than the new shows.
OMG this was amazing! It's dark, humorous with amazing fight scenes.
This show has a great start and I have high expectations on the next episodes!
This episode was a really solid, I'm hooked and I have high expectations on the upcoming episodes. Marvel do know how to deliver.
Good start!
I like how they introduced the major players, they all seem interesting.
The fight scenes are amazing!! And I already really like the interaction between Matt/Foggy.
Marvel + Netflix + Daredevil = <3 <3 <3 All the violence and the dark side of a vigilante's life and the dirty crimes in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan... so well represented it's OMG!!! OMG!!! EFFIN AWESOME XD
I hope it won't be a shitty serie like the movie... Watched the trailer of the serie and now i'm curious....
Daredevil has some of the most entertaining fighting scenes.
Well this was such a bad start i actually enjoyed watching this it took awhile to get used to the dark scenes but i did love his fighting that whole black mask thing kinda of bothers but ill get over it though. Foggy is so epic i think he is so funny and a good sidekick to Matt they both are helping Karen i really dig it
Just watched this again. Really, really awesome pilot. Even better the second time around. The sound editing was something that I noticed later on but apparently it was there from the beginning. I guess it's essentially the equivalent of Matt's POV in the series, which is why I loved how it's there in a lot of the scenes, especially the amazing and well choreographed fights. A very well done and beautiful start. You're immediately sucked into Daredevil's world and I love it.
Finally got to watch Marvel's Daredevil and I was not disappointed!!
Finally getting around to seeing this Daredevil series, and I approve. It does strike a resemblance to Manhunter (1986) in terms of visual style. I like the lighting and the use of shadows with some purple and red colors. If you like this show, you'll wanna check out Arrow (on the CW) and the Hannibal series, both of which have a similar tone to them.
Series premiere. I liked the treatment, Banshee style fights well. We continue to see
great start.
