Why on earth is Eric Stolz playing her YOUNGER brother when he's 4, and looks about 10, years OLDER than Téa Leoni??

So I really liked it at first. Like the story, the acting, everything. But then the kids... Not just their acting, it was the lines they had to say. Way to cliché... But what made me stop was the husband. He usually screws things up or acts like a 5 year old and yells nonsense. Being the good wife, she fixes it and all are happy again and the world is saved.

If she gets a divorce and files a restraining order against the kids I would watch it again :)

I love this show too, more and more. It's smart, intelligent and even though it isn't a rollercoaster like Scandal or HTGAWM it's still briliant. I'm really happy to see how more and more series are putting strong women in the forefront and this show does it in the best way in my opinion. There's no back and forth about whether to choose a family life or to have a high-powered political career, she does both, except the husband now has to pitch in more at home. But lo and behold, he doesn't need to give up his career either. ;-) I don't care much about the Hilary Clinton comparison, this is a tv show afterall and I'm taking it as such. In my opinion all the actors are doing a great job in portraying their respective characters (some better than others), but Tea Leoni is amazing. I rarely see her in dramatic roles and it's a shame, because she is great at it. I hope this show continues for a couple of more seasons and that they will keep this pace or get even better at it.

I found this show when browsing, with the review scores hovering around 70%, which gave me the idea that this show would be mediocre. However, after viewing the vast majority of this show, I can confidently say that this was one of the greatest political-themed shows that I have ever watched. For some context, I myself don't consider myself overly political, but this show was very balanced, showing the humanity of both sides of the political spectrum. Of course, the "Madam Secretary" of this show resembles a pragmatic public servant, which I found to be a smart choice made by the writers and producers. As a whole, Tea Leoni absolutely rocked her character, showing immense charisma. This same praise applies equally to the recurring cast, who all play an important part in both the private and public life of "Madam Secretary." In the end, I found this to be an amazing show that I implore others to watch.

I was so bored and really disappointed. .the characters were walking clichés and even the plot was kinda bland

This show started off with a bang, the content was great and the acting was good (in my view). I think for me the politics killed any desire to continue following this show halfway through the second season. I think writers actively alienate their viewers when they attempt to push their own political or religious agenda, especially in a time period when opinions are so polarized.

Been watching this for some time, it has had some good episodes giving a perspective of behind the doors going's on and the wheeling and dealing that is everyday politics. Some of the close to home family stuff was a bit mushy, but on the whole the series for me watchable if not to everyone's taste. I think they have a small problem coming up which in the context of the title of the series and without saying to much what is on the horizon could in fact bring the series to an end and the dawning of another ....

I've only seen season 1 so far. If I should keep watching, then only because of Téa Leoni. The plot is far too simple if you are somewhat interested in rl diplomacy and politics in general.

I don't know how this happened, but I grew to love it. I had to do a lot of grunt work on my laptop for the past week, and thought it would be an interesting easy watch on my side iPad. I actually found it entertaining and I loved a lot of things. Family dynamic, the witty Russel Jackson, staff at State, the chemistry between Tea Leoni & TIm Daly. The topic at focus is interesting and I happen to love the pace of the show, not too rushed not too slow.

It is going to be hard to find another TV show with the same taste to spend time on, I will wait for the 4th season to end for me to watch it collectively. Easy 8 for me.

This is just the best of what TV can be. Full disclosure, I'm Canadian and not a big fan of the political system or climate of US politics, but this series raises an ideal both personal and political that is inspiring. Beyond that the acting is top notch, the chemistry between principals and between the whole cast is infectious. The writing is intelligent and the scope of situations is exhaustive. From the first season, this series has been on my "Top TV Series" list and I have looked forward to each episode as it broadcasts. I whole heartedly give this series a 10 (excellent) out of 10. My first impression is this show should development nicely over time if it is given the opportunity and has the rating to keep going. The is no new concept here in terms of having a strong minded woman in the state department, however it will be interesting to see how the character becomes more ingrained in the administration she has been pulled into. It's early days, however it looks like there will be enough cloak and daggers and smoke and mirrors to be close to the real world politics to keep being interesting and certainly i personally have been waiting for a suitable replacement for the West Wing :-)
