I had problems with series 4, but series 5 is going back and providing so much new context as to what was actually going on there that I think I'll feel differently about it when I watch it again sometime. I am LIVING for this episode. I realize anything at all could happen in the next two episodes and I may feel differently once they're done, but this episode was still SO satisfying to watch.
I binge watched Luther series 1-4 in the run up to Christmas (loved them) so that I could watch series 5 live as it were but either I’m all “Luthered out” or the latest series just seems a little bit too ridiculous? Either way I’m disappointed thus far.
the visual upgrades for season 5 are a bit jarring. It takes a little while to get used to it. I'm not even sure I like it. but the editing and season 5 episode 2 alone, is some of the worst things I've ever seen. I had to rewatch the whole thing just to make sure it wasn't because my internet was stalling and buffering the episode. It is just a mess editing wise in the top. It evens out in the bottom but still
So absolutely everyone Luther cares about is going to die for him, is that it
Despite the fucked-upness, I liked the dynamics between Vivien and Jeremy. Before he drugged her, they seemed to have such nice chemistry. Bonding even. I mean, the torture was just a biproduct, aye? :joy:
I am liking the show better again though, now that Alice is back. Not a huge fan of Halliday, but I guess I'm just agreeing with Alice on that.

I hope Alice and Luther become accomplices (and more) again. I don‘t want Luther hating Alice.
