Wow. What a surprise this was. This THREE part episode. I can't even remember the last two-parter, it may have been seasons ago, if ever. And yet here it is a THREE parter. Very unusual. But this has been quite a good three parter in the sense of building a larger story. Plus you get to see more character from the detectives and prosecutors. It was nice seeing the whole of the first episode be police work, and all of the last episode be the court session. It was nice seeing those parts prolonged and more fleshed out.
I like the character dynamics in this. I liked the story, i liked the side plot with the detective and that woman. I liked how important this case felt, and schiffs speech at the end of the second episode in how much he really wanted a conviction. I liked the side plot with Jamie and her daughter and the defense attorney. I liked how McCoy was in the courtroom session and how he broke the defendant.
I really liked this three parter. We need much more of them. Because you could see what this meant for the characters, and we got to see more of them and we saw at the end that this was quite notable in their lives, this case. This whole three parter.
