If ever there was a good use for the death penalty, this would be it. As long as the costs of the method of death were lower than what it would cost to incarcerate for life.
I guess my views on the death penalty have changed over time, with the help of this show. I used to be and still am mostly against it's use, because of the possibility of executing innocent people, and of the costs associated with the method of execution. But this show has made me see clearly how much of a great tool the death penalty is in threats and negotiations with criminals. I think the death penalty should be brought back in extreme cases like this, as long as the costs are lower than life incarceration. People and society would be better off without people like this, and the danger to them, and using up our resources.
But in western society, it seems in recent years and decades the needle has been swung too much in the other direction, towards total opposition towards the death penalty. This is wrong i believe, for the greater good.
7 years for the guy who shot him is pretty fair. I'm sure McCoy would go down to 5 years, which is fair. He even said to Branch he should be serving 3 years somewhere.
McCoy won a hard case there. I'm glad he was able to reduce the defendant's sentence.
