I've never felt so defenseless watching a TV show. Rollins and Stone acted like total jerks on this episode. I understand the law is the law, and everything, but their lines implied (and sometimes explicited) that the deceased was right because he was a cop, as if he was infallible or something, and didn't deserve what happened to him. I was psychlogically abused by my ex husband and I can assure that this kind of violence is much more harmful than a punch or other physical damages.

As a survivor of IPV (intimate partner violence) aka emotional abuse, this was a difficult episode to watch and when I saw so many comments here I expected to see people complaining. It was good to see most people complaining about how awful the victim was treated, how characters who previously showed empathy were terrible. The thing is that most people don't consider IPV a thing, just as there are still people who don't consider domestic violence real. While it was horrible seeing Rollins and Stone act as they did they are just surrogates for real people and SVU has always been a way to bring real-life issues to light via the medium of TV. Please remember that. It wasn't a bad script, it was reality being brought to screen.

Thankfully at least here in the UK people have woken up to the reality that IPV is real and it real and lasting repercussions on victims. It's now illegal and a case like this wouldn't have been questioned as much. I hope that this episode made some people realise the reality that some people live/d with every day.

I wish they'd stop doing bottle episodes; they're the worst. At least it only is about one per season (or less).

I hated this episode. It reminded me of the many reasons I can't stand Rollins (it's okay for a man to abuse a woman if he happens to be a cop? She works for SVU and doesn't understand that psychological abuse is as real a thing as physical abuse? And Stone -- that's not rape? All of it was just gross. Not sure if just bad writing or what, but I couldn't wait for this episode to be over.

Obviously the woman was a victim, but I hated how they tried through the debates to make us think that the murder was justifiable.
Stone was disgusting when he said that that was not rape.
