[6.8/10] Not a bad episode. The Trump stuff is well-observed as usual, though again, nothing really new on that front. The “And Now” bit with a supercut of the CNN anchor calling herself a nerd was a treat. And the information on the Dalai Lama and the looming crisis of his conflict with China was very interesting.
Oliver’s interview with the Lama himself should have been a big deal, and it’s a pretty good get, but there just wasn’t much to it. Like his interview with Snowden, Oliver asks the tough questions, but the Lama doesn’t offer much of an answer. The bit about him transferring the “demon” to Oliver is worth a chuckle, but otherwise not much there.
Overall, a well-intentioned episode, but one that didn’t deliver as much.
