The idea that Peggy needs someone who challenges and not just coddles her when recovering from her injury, and how she understands an inner strength within Cotton, despite his boorishness and tall tales, comes together to create a pretty inspiring episode. The way that Cotton and Peggy help one another, adding a new dimension to one of the show's meanest and sometimes most one-note characters, while also telling a semi-realistic story about Peggy's recovery and determination, makes it a big success.
