Kim's Convenience 2016

It's a funny and relatable show. Family issues, especially some unique to 1st and 2nd generation immigrant families. One of the best shows out right now. No formulaic sitcom tropes, which is great to see

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee makes the show for me. He's hilarious.

Started watching this to fill the void after I finished Superstore. I really enjoyed it! I’m obsessed with the dad. Although, after watching superstore, I didn’t feel very connected to the characters like I was with the prior. But if you are looking for something light, quick and will make you giggle, its a great show to watch.

Average season rating: 7.6

It kills me that the spin-off of this show (which one of its co-creators left to pursue) centers on one of the white regulars. Doesn't that fly directly in the face of what Kim's Convenience represented for Canadian (or any other) television? More stories about more diverse people?

Such a shame. Give us a Janet or Kimchee spin-off, smh.

Finished watching the show today. Can't believe such a masterpiece was created right here in Toronto. 10/10, would recommend.

I'm enjoying this show a lot. It's a sitcom revolving around a family, but not all members live in the same building—instead, they're close-knit and often see their lives intertwine. It doesn't try to counter this with a bunch of cheesy "touching" moments, either. Oh, and did I mention that it's hilarious?

Kim's Convenience and Schitt's Creek are the two best comedies currently airing - hooray for Canadian original content!

Hilarious cast, pound for pound I'd put Kims up against The Office for 2nd hand cringe. There are episodes I had to pause and come back to hours later. But I think Kims has some of the funniest cold openings that I'd put up against Brooklyn Nine-Nine which has somehow become the barometer for cold opens. Simu however was right. The characters could have used more growth and there were certainly a lot of room for it that just wasn't explored especially in the final two seasons.

Well worth watching. I think it had a sweet ending kind of a "See you tomorrow" saccharine adorable ending. Not so overly emotional like the ending to the big comedies where you cry as you see these characters off to their big life changes. This is more low key and it kinda works with the nature of the show.

This show would've been an 8 out of 10 for me if it wasn't for that cliffhanger ending in the last season. It's a great show throughout, but it left much to be desired and they shouldn't have made a spin-off series focusing solely on Shannon. Nonetheless, it's still a good sitcom to binge-watch through with lots of likable characters. But they really should've continued it. I could've seen this show go on for at least 2 more seasons.

Pro tip: Make sure to check if a TV show/series is canceled before you end up disappointed like me towards the end going: "That's it?"

It's just delightful. I can't tell you how much a show like this reminds me that not everything is the same and it's still worth popping your head into something that, if the banner picture is to believed, would make you think it's a kind of canned series of jokes_but now with Asian characters!_. Nope. This is laugh out loud consistency not just with the main characters, but in letting the support shine. Authentic scenarios draw out equal responses and keep you feeling part of the family instead of watching for where you assume things are headed. I'm proud of the creators and will be advocating for this show at least as hard as I do my other Canadian favorite Letterkenny.
