Episodes random order is such a bad idea 6 /10
I rather enjoyed random episode order. Just watch White last. Chronological order is just spoilers. It could have been much better but it was entertaining. Remember, White last.
Underwhelming. The ending was fairly predictable. Characters are boring and you find yourself not rooting for them at all.
As a heist story, I found it fair.
As a showcase for Giancarlo Esposito's acting, it was great.
As an experiment in achronological (did just make up that word?) story telling, it worked for me, but Netflix randomized my episodes in largely chronological order (with the "White" heist finale last). My order was yellow-green-orange-purple-blue-red-pink-white (:cherry_blossom:⬜), and it flowed well and made sense, though I think pink makes a better finale. I'm interested to see what people who start with red or pink, which take place after the heist, think.
6.5/10 for me.
Much like most Netflix stuff, A SNOOZFEST. All talk, flat characters, I couldn't care less if they were successful, dead or aliens. BORIIIIIIIIIIING 2/10
Typical Netflix trash, they think that all they need to do is add a few classic stones songs and the have a smash hit....yawn!
I really tried to lean into the non-liner gimmick of the show, and watched it from outside in (25y before, 6m after, 7y before etc). It wasn't enjoyable. Like the show says, u have to pay attention to many details that don't align with anything until you see all. But it doesn't make it intriguing, only tiring and labouring.
Now, the show itself isn't good enough for you to put all those efforts in, so I just felt exhausted waiting for something interesting to happen, which of course never does, because each episode is supposed to be a standalone on the series so there's never a climax or resolution of everything.
If you watch it, do it linear.
But even then I don't recommend the show because it's just too mediocre.
Just watch this 20min episode of Rick and Morty One Crew over the Crewcoo's Morty - you'll have fun and save yourself 7h 40m of just reaching the exact same result.
Boy it's such a cliche with the crew recruit "what's the job? I'm in" and that music.. ridiculous!
one of most shitty shows i ever watched! for real like I'm so disappointed and sad for time i wasted with it, Story is so weak and what it's makes more dumb that nonsense thing's that happened!
really it could be better than that bc it has really great idea
not recommended at all
I wanted to like this, especially because of the concept. I want to see more TV shows being released from the shackles of episodic order. I think it can do wonders for a compelling story that you can consume in multiple ways. But Kaleidoscope is not the right story for it.
It is too simple, too boring, too humdrum. the only excitement comes from the unorthodox episode order that jumbles up the narrative and makes you use your brain cells to figure out how the puzzle fits together. When you do (as I did after watching the 4th episode) it gets tiring. I dragged myself through the 5th and 6th episodes but that was the end.
I hope someone else with a better script has another go at this concept one day.
I watched it in the recommended Netflix order which is not entirely random - as review by @tomekad says below, some episodes are fixed in place for everyone. Even then it wasn't good enough after a while. (https://trakt.tv/comments/536102)
Nice show, I liked it. I don't really know if the versatility of watching shows in mixed order added anything though. Nevertheless solid 8 for me!
Thought it was genius and another instant heist classic. One day I hope people give it the respect it deserves. One hint of advise, WATCH WHITE LAST. Watch the rest in whatever order you want, but watch WHITE LAST.
I really enjoyed this series.
Having one flashback/flash forward per episode was great as was the random order of the episodes - nice change of pace from the more traditional bouncing through various timelines within episodes that can be very confusing.
Was the storyline perfect? No it was good though. Some parts did drag and could have been edited out thereby shortening the episode/season. But overall it just worked.
9/10 for it's uniqueness and story that kept you intrigued start to finish.
I did get a couple of my guesses confirmed by the last 2 episodes.
My order of episodes: black, yellow, green, blue, orange, violet, red, pink, white
Watching the show in any order is a fun gimmick which is actually quite turned out to be quite enjoyable. To watch the show I spun the wheel before each episode :)
Throughout the series there are references to other episodes and it definitely gives you a unique perspective into the story. However, in order to make sure the story is understandable in any order, the characters and overall plot of the show are quite shallow, but any more and the story would be confusing to follow. The writers had to balance a story that had depth as well as a story that can be consumed in any order and ultimately they have done a good job. This show could have definitely had a stronger story had it gone down a conventional route (and it probably would be a better show). That being said, I think the show definitely has got a lot more negative criticism than it deserves and is still an enjoyable watch
Waste of time to watch this, I want my 6 hours back.
Interesting: You can watch episodes in order you want, and Netflix make random order by default.
It was like watching Oceans 11 on LSD !!! Anyway my order was:
Green
Yellow
Violet
Orange
Blue
Red
:sparkling_heart: Pink
:white_large_square: White
I would also love to know what people thought of the show when ‘Pink’ was their 1st episode.
This show was an interesting watch; the concept was really cool, but I think the actual content wasn't anything all that great. It was entertaining enough, but even with all the randomised ordering of the episodes, I didn't feel like there were many shocking twists or turns. I found it pretty predictable. Still, I'd recommend it simply on the basis of the concept at work, it's pretty cool.
My order was Green - Yellow - Violet - Orange - Blue - Red - Pink - White
:heart:x7
Although this new experimental format of story-telling is interesting - I prefer the more standard way of story telling - linear.
Having said that, the story itself is pretty good and interesting. The order in which I saw the episodes, kept me guessing as to what was happening at time (which was good).
However, I doubt we'll see a 2nd season unless we get a brand new cast. And there is one thing I still don't understand... Who killed Leo??
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
The "We wrote a screenplay we could only get made by adding a watch-the-episodes-in-any-order gimmick to it" part of this doesn't make me want to rush to watch it….in any order
My order was: Green, Yellow, Blue, Violet, Orange, Red, Pink, White.. I guess all people will get the same last three
I looked at it according to the chronological order. Find it makes no sense at all otherwise.
VIOLET: 24 YEARS BEFORE THE HEIST
GREEN: 7 YEARS BEFORE THE HEIST
YELLOW: 6 WEEKS BEFORE THE HEIST
ORANGE: 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE HEIST
BLUE: 5 DAYS BEFORE THE HEIST
WHITE: THE HEIST
RED: THE MORNING AFTER THE HEIST
PINK: 6 MONTHS AFTER

It took me three months to get through this show. There was absolutely nothing drawing me back to it and the only reason I finished it was for completion's sake. I'm not sure why, but this was just so incredibly drab and boring for me. I didn't care about any of the characters, the acting was shockingly bad in some cases, and the story was incredibly disjointed. The weird thing is that the disjointed feel was intentional. The random episode order sounds like a cool idea on paper but this show instead treated it as a gimmick to get people to watch and didn't actually use the idea to do anything interesting or unique. That just left a bitter taste in my mouth. It was also way too long for its own good, and it's a wonder that they didn't do anything to make me care about the characters with all of that screen time. I can see that they at least tried a little bit with character backstories, but everything fell so incredibly flat. The two episodes that took place after the heist offered some intrigue, and breaking each episode up by color provided some mildly cool cinematography, but beyond that I can confidently say I rarely enjoyed myself with this show. Just feels like a cheap trick.
3.7/10 -- Bad
A great idea, executed unsuccessfully. They tried atleast. The cast is distracting enough anyway.
Very basic story, the you can watch on any order thing was just a marketing gimmick
Watched in the following order:
Blue
Green
Yellow
Orange
Violet
Red
Pink
White
Yes, I only watched it for the novelty of the random episode order, but I also don't think it really works? At times characters would speak about things I just hadn't heard of, and there's nothing I could really do about that.
loved the show, everyone was great and i especially loved Tati Gabrielle in this
quite some planning went into this show because of the fact that you can watch it in any order and have it still make sense, i can only imagine
it was fun!
Don’t be boring and watch full chronological or go too random and miss loads of stuff.
I found the following order to be very good:
:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:
Yellow, Green, Orange, Blue, Violet, Red, White, Pink:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:
Note this involves switching white one earlier as pink is such a better ending episode.
Overall I was quite impressed, although I don’t quite buy the watch it in any order, the above or similar is very good order. The above order feels quite like a film, introductions -> flashbacks -> build up -> mysterious aftermath -> heist -> epilogue
This was better than expected considering seeing average reviews. It’s fast paced and intriguing with a brave ending which I think tells a deeper story about chasing revenge, wealth and the wealthy. Doesn’t blow your mind but very solid with decent acting 7/10
Really wanted to like this one but it just didn’t make sense and would have been better off watched in the original order. I do feel like there was a great story that was sadly lost due to the ambitious decision for it to be watchable in any order.
In all you do, watch the white last. Though i didnt like how the show ended.
[no spoilers outside spoiler tag] DO NOT watch this is chronological order. Whoever recommends that either didn't watch this show at all, or has tiktok attention span and is unable to watch anything longer than 6 seconds.
Anyway, as a heist serie, it's honestly very good. Each episode takes place in a completely different point in time, but the stories show us different parts of the general motivation and idea for the heist, which I find rather creative and unique. What I don't like is Giancarlo Esposito's pompous performance -- sure, his is the main character of the show, but no matter if it's a victorous or critical moment, he is overplaying emotions and badassery. Another thing is lazy writing, which you will see especially when you get introduced to some security measures in the vault but also in one of the last scene in the Pink episodes. It seems Nazan's death was going somewhere but they suddenly run out of budget to shoot any follow-up. There is a slight suggestion what could have happened there, but it's only a guess and it was left unresolved.
I watched it in GYBVORPW order suggested by netflix, and it seems to me netflix follows some rules when randomizing this for every user: White is always the finale (totally agree with that) and it's preceeded by Red and Pink in a random order (these two are post-heist but would make very little sense if watched after White). It seems Yellow and Green are the first episodes for everyone as well and for a good reason in my opinion. Remaining episodes are randomised between spots 3 and 6.
My personal suggestion is following the Trakt/Wikipedia order, except with Red and Pink switched. I believe this makes the more sense from the story-telling perspective: YGBOVPRW
Forget chronological order. This story is best viewed in the following order: BLUE, RED, ORANGE, GREEN, VIOLET, YELLOW, PINK, WHITE. It provides better plots twists and unexpected “reveal” moments. Realize some viewers are linear thinkers, but Kaleidoscope really lives up to its cinematic potential when you meet the characters in action…and then unravel who they are.
Bk-Y-G-B-O-V-R-P-W
Maybe I am getting a good palate. The show is not perfect, not at all. Esposito is a good actor, but sometimes he tends to overact in the most dramatic scenes. There is also a lot of forced suspense thrown in here and there. The “watch in the order you prefer” game is all but necessary for this content. All summed is fun. 6/7
I went for a chronological order viewing experience. Even so, I realize that it was the right thing to do for me because I would’ve learned what happened to everybody (Pink episode) before watching the actual heist (White episode) and none of the characters really stuck up to me to really care about what happened to them. I think the concept of choosing your viewing order experience is interesting and I could watch a second season provided it’s a different story, with better character development. And please, stop forcing situations just to benefit a certain storyline, I hate it when writers make characters do “convenient”, but IMPLAUSIBLE things just for the sake of stirring drama. I can smell plot twists from a country mile when the do that.
i conceptually appreciate the experimentation in making this, but it's so boring when none of the plot pieces can build on each other
another netflix 'wasting good actors' series
Better watched in chronological order
The jumbled timeline fuked it up, would've scored an 8 otherwise.
There were a few cutscenes that were questionnable at best..
The overall filmmaking quality was lackluster, clear laziness from the producers
Please remove the Black Episode from Season 1, the TMDB order is always out of space, just go back to THETVDB!
Let me start off by saying if you’ve watched all your other shows and you have nothing else to watch then give this show a go!
I personally got about a quarter of the way through and wanted to give up but I’ve managed to stay with it until the end.
The story has been told so many times before and in so many better ways, The colour theme two episode has been done before and been done better, The non-chronological order format has been done before and has been done a lot lot better.
There’s just two little changes but needed to be made to make this from a average show to a okay show.
1) put the episode in chronological order
2) cut out the scenes of what the daughter did during the heist “white episode” and place them at the end of what would now be the last episode “the pink episode”.
Have the father call he’s daughter at the end like he did with her asking him to visit and him agreeing to go, at the end of the call cut to the daughter and add a new scene “her talking to her partner” they talk about the heist and we then have the extra scenes of what they did and how they got the deeds/certificates, go back to them talking to each other and have the camera pan round to the heist cases still stacked up behind them….
Now cut to the Father packing his suitcase to go and see the daughter followed by the tunnel and shooting scene…..
This will leave 90% of the audience scratching their head over who shot him and wanting to know the answers, only the eagle eyed viewers knowing the answer……
If you want the definitive viewing experience, watch 'Black', and then don't bother watching anything further.
I jest, but colour me underwhelmed.
Shout-out to Human Fish.
Let’s see how this show is. My watch order will be: Yellow, Violet, Orange, Green, Blue, Red, Pink, and finally White.
you can watch episodes in random order
Meh, i get that they tried something new and honestly the sorry is not so bad, but the "random episode order" is the thing that made it least enjoyable, lot of plotholes and rushed.
ok who thought of this mess ?
9 or 8 episodes ? netflix has the first episode 1 minute !
wikipedia and others has as 8 episodes that can be viewed in any order ?!?!
What do you solve this mess ?

I really wanted to like this show because I'm a fan of several cast members, but while the acting was great, basically everything else fell apart. The worst was the characterizations. I didn't really understand why these characters were motivated to do what they were doing beyond like Ray/Leo. Why did Judy stay with Bob? What was going on with her and Stan? It's really never explained. The characters feel super shallow and I think part of that is because of the show's structure in trying to allow people to enter from (basically) any episode, they can only reveal so much in each installment. It limits the writing and it's to the show's overall detriment. Just overall a huge letdown. So many things don’t make sense.
