Episode 1 started well, but then episode 2 came along and it got stupid.
Then episode 3 happened...didn't think it could've gotten any dumber, but it did!
His daughter (Vivian Olyphant) can't act - cut her loose.
It's been a while since I've watched a TV show crash and burn this quickly.
Poor Raylan, what they did to you in this series... all the characters handle him like a puppet from here to there, old Raylan would end the problem in the first maybe second episode, the chemistry with Carolyn doesn't exist and her character is terrible. I saw the old justified 2 times and it is one of my favorite series because of the essence of it, the characters, the story and the action that is all that is missing from this series.
This turned out to be one of those shows that we finished because we felt committed to after a few episodes and after liking the original. It was not worth it. Barely average as episodes went by without advancing the story. There are much better out there.
Episode 1 was good then it got very stupid and dumb , the script went directly downhill sooo many incoherent stuff and decisions along the way.
This could have end in 3 episodes, just shoot him!
This is not for fans of the original series. Raylan Givens' character does NOT fit in this setting at all. This is a cash grab plain and simple. The writers haven't "taken inspiration" from Elmore Leonard's novel. They have literally replaced the main character, a local detective, and replaced him with a US Marshal. Makes absolutely no sense and it's just garbage. Read the novel and skip the show.
I hate to say it, but "Justified: City Primeval" misses the mark in more ways than one. It's like they took everything that made the original series great and tossed it out the window. Remember those unforgettable supporting characters? Nowhere to be found. And don't even get me started on the setting — Harlan County, with all its grit and charm, replaced by a lackluster Detroit that feels like it's been put through a sepia filter.
And then there's Raylan Givens. Oh, Raylan. What did they do to you? This portrayal feels like a shadow of the Raylan we fell in love with. Instead of taking charge like he used to, he's just along for the ride, making snarky comments and showcasing his flaws as a father. It's like they forgot who he was halfway through filming. And speaking of forgettable, Olyphant's on-screen daughter? Yikes. I get it, it's her debut, but her performance is cringe-worthy. Thank goodness she's written out of the script early on.
Overall, "City Primeval" feels like a watered-down version of the original, with a plot so thin you could see right through it. The personal drama? Don't even get me started. It's like they're trying to fill time with empty conflicts that nobody cares about. If this is supposed to be Timothy Olyphant's swan song as Raylan Givens, count me disappointed. The original sendoff was so much better, leaving me wishing they'd just left well enough alone.
What do you get when you take a great show, remove all action scenes, remove all well written dialogue and remove all interesting characters? you get Justified City Primeval..
Holy shit, what a boring snoozefest.. I loved the original Justified, it is by far one of my favorite shows. What they did here was terrible.. Timothy Olyphant Is still great as Raylan Givens, but everything else is just.... a badly written story, boring characters, and a main villain with the charisma of a bag of potatoes.
Not the original Justified, but not as terrible as some have made out either.
The story was mostly fine, but what was missing are the charismatic supporting characters of the original. There just aren't substitutes for Boyd, Art, Duffy, Ava, Maggs, etc..
The new villain was serviceable, but what hasn't changed is that Raylan is still Raylan.
I started out disappointed because of what I was expecting, but I came to settle in and made peace with this new offering. I think it got there in the end, and finished strong at the very very end.
One of the worst series I have ever seen. The only way I could bear to watch it was at 2x speed. That should give you an idea of how slow and boring it was. Maybe the problem was the writers' strike?
It is an average show. But the last episode does deliver everything we wished for. Episodes 1-7 are 6/10 and episode 8 is 9/10. I wish the 8th episode was the beginning and the storyi progressed from there.
after reading few comments I have noticed they all have same thing in common....the show is about race and same nonsense we have been dealing with since after 2016....had such hide hope for this one...the previous show was good....like the others meaning TV series and movies....i will skip this one....nope thanks....
One of the most interesting things about the character of Raylan is how calm he stays in the face of adversity. And I don’t mean when he’s in a gun fight. I love watching his reactions to mean or spiteful people’s comments or how he deals with set back after set back and remains calm.
I had such high hopes for this show. The first show was one of my favorites ever. Raylan is still a great character but in this show he seems more like a secondary character. They found another great villain but they don't really do anything with him in the story. The story itself is what seems to be lacking. It seems that they put so much focus on injecting race into everything about the show that the story kind of sucks and they made some pretty poor casting decisions as well. I would give it another season to see if it finds its feet because I liked the first show so much, but after watching the first 6 episodes it isn't looking good.
it's just not the same. i can't enjoy it unfortunately.
ratings were not that great but we loved it. loved the original Justified . hoping to see Boyd Crowder show up in Season 2
I love Raylan Givens so here I immediately felt at home, even though it took a couple of episodes to really get going. It’s not the best Justified season out there by a long shot, but it’s better than season one and five, thanks to good writing, humour, tension, dialogues and actors. Also, Boyd Holbrook is a great villain, with a very Justifiedy sendoff. Sure, he’s no Boyd, Limehouse or Mags and Dickie Bennett, but who is?
This guy definitely isn't Boyd Crowder. Just a jerk so you don't really care what he does next. Just more of the same jerk from the episode before. There would be times you were actually pulling for Boyd. Not this guy and that kind of pushes this towards boring.
Return of the beloved Gunslinger Lawman series that fell just short of greatness, devolving into an idiot circus by its end, dictating character choices by plot necessity rather than established motivations.
Fantastic performances and characters (well, mostly...)
Despite my issues, I enjoyed the heck out of this and would love more.

Initially the trailer caught my attention and episode 1 brought what i expected.
After that things got less great. The Mansell character got on my nerves quickly. And it makes only little sense how nobody finished him off before. Plus the whole sidestory of a crooked cop keeping Mansell safe and our of prison doesn't make any sense. He didn't have the little book before. He never approached the crooked chop neither. It's a huge plothole.
The wokeness relationships also don't make any sense. Not the gay one and not the one between our main man good honest cop and the person of interest lawyer of the main villain. Such a good honest cop would never do that. Only reason for this to be a thing is coz the producers needed an interracial relationship added to the show and the writers could not think of any logical couples.
It's too bad this nonsense keeps on being stuffed down our throats. Because these kind of things do not add to the story. Especially not if done this stupidly.
Other choices made by several main characters also felt far fetched multiple times. But the woke bs really took away from the quality of the show.
Overall season 1 started great and then quickly quality dropped. Last few episodes I went to do other things with the sound playing in the back ground and I d watch occasionally. The whole Albanian angle felt like a bad steal from Barry, or Banshee or... So many other series.
I'll still give it a decent 7 out of 10. May have been closer to an 8 without the b.s wokeness.
:heart:x7
Not a bad follow-up. It didn't quite feel like the original Justified (2010), but it was still very good. It was really good to see Raylan again with his steely-eyed resolve. Raylan's primary adversary was quite annoying and very unlikable.
Good news is, they set up show for yet another season. So possible - YAY? - as long as the sag aftra strike doesn't go on forever.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
well folks...I think it was GREAT! Please bring on Season 2! xxxx

This is great news for us Justified fans. Can't wait, hope it's as good as the original show.
