This is not your idealistic, admirable sleuth. Quite the contrary. But he is diligent, intuitive and relentless. Murder and mystery shrouded in darkness and an alcoholic haze. Iain Glen leads a good cast with good performances. The stories are not complex and you may get ahead of Jack as he solves them, but, all in all, its a good watch. I give this series an 8 (good) out of 10. [Criminal Mystery]
The first season was great (9/10). Only watched the first episode of season two and it was very dark and just plodded along (3/10). Season three got a big intro music/opening, but fell flat on it's face for the story in episode one - it felt very strained and short of actual content (3/10).
I think I'm gonna pass on the rest. My advice - watch season one and then pack it in, imagine that's where this story ends.

What could be better than a belligerent alcoholic Irish private investigator. Can't wait for a series based on Bunny McGarry. If you like this check out Backstrom (TV Series 2015) - also about a lovable a-hole alchy detective or The Guard (Movie 2011) - regular grouchy Irish cop (not alcoholic).
