[7.6/10] This one had a pretty zany energy, even for IASIP, but I liked it! The story of Mac, Charlie, and Frank trying to make news had a nice bit of escalation to it. Finding nothing but racist old ladies at the old folks home and Wii tennis matches in Chinatown was a nice “thud” start to the attempt, and their ensuing quest to be “heroes” through increasingly elaborate/staged incidents was pretty funny. There’s nice character details, like Charlie not putting a tap in the video camera and then freaking out about it or Mac sweating up a storm.
I also enjoyed the other half of the story where Dennis and Dee try to get famous via the Paris Hilton method of being drunk and stupid in clubs. Dee’s inability to make it work and Dennis taking ecstasy (I assume?) and turning into a raver was a nice comedic twist on thing. The editing and shooting of Dennis’s trips was superb.
And I really liked when the two stories came together. It’s a little Road Runner, but Dee continually getting set on fire by the gang as they try to make their kitten rescue story work was still a nice bit of exaggerated humor. Plus, I loved the weirdness of the Public Access Channel Dancing Guy. Having him not only show up at the club with Dennis, but then having Dennis and Dee end up in his diaper dancing segment was the perfect, bizarre way to cap off the episode. Overall, a bit wackier than even IASIP usually gets, but it worked.
