Initially I was a little exhausted with the season's reliance on contemporary issues (Trump, COVID) as it felt a little late-season Simpsons style lazy. However, the trip to Ireland illustrates how the characters really embody a certain recognizable American ignorance, brashness, and boldness that is endearing and appalling at once. There's banshee jokes in here for crying out loud. The show doesn't pop with all the energy it once had but I'm there for Dennis talking to castles and Dee being a banshee.
Wow that was a shit season...
I was looking for a show to binge and end up watching season 1-15 in a few weeks time. Great and funny show! Didn’t know that there’s another season on the way, but I’m excited.
It kind of surprised me how much I like it. True, they scream a bit much, but I didn’t dislike that as much as I thought I would. There’s some really good stuff here.
In other words: GODDAMMIT! WHAT A SHOW!
Not many other series could be in their fifteenth season and still feel as fresh and true to themselves as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia does, opposed to other seasons this one is mainly split into two different sections. The first 4 episodes stick to the traditional IASIP formula where the Gang gets into various shenanigan's at Paddy's Pub whereas the second half see's them on vacation in Ireland. Some iconic characters finally get to make a return and the roller rink episode offers a look into the daily life of the gang in high school which shows a hilarious contrast to how they are as adults. The second half is much more serialized and focusses on each characters desires, Charlie searches for a pen pal he has had since he was a child who ends up revealing himself to be Charlies father, Mac tries to understand who he is as a person where at first he clings to artificial labels, Dennis and Dee simply want to enjoy their vacation while Dennis tries to prove he doesn't have COVID, and Frank wants to reconfirm his relationship with Charlie after he meets his father and starts to push Frank away. The season ends on a very emotional note with an incredibly powerful performance by Charlie Day that genuinely brought tears to my eyes. On top of all of that the gags throughout the whole season were genuinely great, basically every scene with Dennis dealing with COVID, Pepper Jack's reintroduction, and the Gang driving on the wrong side of the road. It is still clear that the Cast/Creators are still having an absolute blast when working on this series
i knew it wasnt gonna be that good so i just shut off my brain and enjoyed it
