so Mac and his dad aren't that different huh
[5.9/10] Pretty weak stuff. Mac trying to get closer to his dad and then screwing things up is just rote now, and the show didn’t really have any new places to take that well-worn plot this late in the game. So instead, it just went blue. Don’t get me wrong, IASIP can be delightfully sophomoric, but all the stuff with Charlie’s mom and Bill Ponderosa’s family felt like trying to cover for weak gags with overly juvenile humor.
The other story, which saw Bill Ponderosa trying to drink himself to death while the rest of The Gang tries to perk him up, feels like a classic IASIP plot, but the episode couldn’t really make any hay with it. The jokes were just flat. And while bringing the two stories together was nice, nothing much came of it.
Overall, the weakest episode of what’s otherwise been a strong season thus far.
