Easily one of the best animated shows out there. Incredible first season
MY THOUGHTS ON SEASON ONE:
-WARNING: Spoilers Below-
So you can sure tell that the creator of The Walking Dead created this, huh? Literally the majority of the voice actors are from The Walking Dead and I'll be honest... I was a bit dubious of that but let me say one thing, they done great! This season was INSANE! It was so good it actually left me speechless.
This show really doesn't hold back and if you're going into this thinking it'll be some child friendly marvel superhero cartoon then boy are you wrong. This is cruel, gruesome and damn right wicked. It's filled to the brim with insane action scenes and over the top bloodshed and it's done INCREDIBLY! It all works so well and flows together so perfectly you'll be left with your jaw wide open and looking like an idiot.
All of the characters in this are designed amazingly, voice acted perfectly and are all believable. There's not a single character that brings the show down, all characters do their part and leave you awestruck. The Voice Actors performed so well it's insane, I find that with a lot of animated shows or movies I struggle with the voice acting and it puts me off but with this one it worked so well and all actors played their part perfectly. The Animators were also insanely talented, manging to create some of the best looking scenes that I have ever witnessed.
I seriously can not wait for Season 2, I'd love to know what they have in store for us but until then I'll stay waiting anxiously. Definitely watch this!
You know, as time passes, the more I fall in love with... INVINCIBLE. Maybe my rating is too harsh because my feelings for it are immense. I love this show, it's one of my favourite pieces of media already, and I'm pumped for Seasons 2 and 3.
I hope the animation improves! It's great already, but if it gets better, I can't imagine what kind of images we might be getting! More frames, maybe? More detail or shading? Who knows?!
Aw man, that final episode is crazy, and I really want to see more from this universe. Not only does it flesh out Mark and Omni-Man, but they introduce and follow characters that leave their orbit. I want to see more of the new Guardians of the Globe! I want to see more of Atom Eve! But most importantly, I want episodes that focus on individual characters other than Mark.
Anyway, that's my ramble. Again, maybe my rating is too harsh, but it's an arbitrary number anyway, so who cares?! What I care about is how much I enjoyed it. Hopefully, these feelings will stay with me for a while. Also, after looking at the show's IMDB page, I can't believe who's in this cast! J.K. Simmons, Walton Goggins, Zachary Quinto and Mark Hamill are in this series! How did I not notice!?
SCORE: 8/10
My God what a show
Even though the story isn't that new of a protector turning to be the bad guy but for some reason it felt different and unique
I mean I loved that the show didn't hold back on violence and blood, it felt gruesome and disturbing and that really helped with making us feel more invested in the story and realize the high stakes
the voice acting was on point for all the characters main and side.. J. K. Simmons and Steven Yeun did a great job with Nolan & Mark
Speaking of Nolan what a great character, I mean the animators did a great job with conveying his facial expressions but the character development was very beautiful.. I loved that he acted calm throughout the series even though we had our suspicions
I'm really excited to see Nolan and Mark meet again and how the dynamic between the two would be.. Viltrumites never leave their missions and with Nolan leaving and not finishing the job of killing his son that says that he changed.. all these years he spent with his human wife and half human kid opened something new in him so I'm very curios to see how these new emotions would play out later on
overall great show, I'm super excited for Season 2!!!
Liked it a lot, Felt a little disjointed and all over the place at times but I have more positive thoughts on the show than negative. The main stories with Omni-Man and Invincible are solid through out the season but there is some characters that didn't have their story clearly told which is fine but I do think that's the one issue with the show is that there are just so many characters and not all of them are integral to the main story but they will have one or two episodes dedicated to them sometimes and that can really throw me off, Again overall I enjoyed it....I think it will be a little bit better on a re-watch given how confusing some of the early-ish/middle episodes can be that eventually get paid off (a little bit) down the road.
Awesome first season. Looking forward to season two.
I love the more mature take on an animated superhero show. This is brutal and so much fun at the same time. Had an absolute blast and can’t wait to binge season 2 in a few weeks.
The show is insanely woke, with a lot of feminism and liberal politics such as calling Mount Rushmore racist in other pathetic garbage. Also race swapping and progressive couples. Amber is a mouthpiece for a lot of this crap because she is a feminist SJW, perhaps a self insert for the writers. [Another theory I read is that the writers may have been forced to add in wokeness, so they put it in a character who steps out later on and is very annoying]
So far it has not been actively racist against White people like Blue Eye Samurai so I may be willing to give it a 5 instead of a 4.
Omni-Man is based though, he did nothing wrong. Apparently the first 75 chapters of the comic are not woke so I might go ahead and read that instead.
Highly rated show with heaps of voice talent, but doesn’t appeal to my taste for an animated series.
I gave it 3 episodes and the special Atom Eve ep and are going to leave it at that.
Man ! What a fuckinggg show!!! I just finished all the 8 episodes and it's just made me so invested in this universe. The Voice Acting, The story, The brutality, don't even get me started on that train scene where Nolan makes Mark completely massacre people. My favorite episode has the 7th one ( I have watched Season 1) , I really love Atom Eve's character and I feel like her and Mark would be a perfect for each other. The last 2 episodes highlight just how big of a monster Omni-Man is , that brute strength left my mouth open at times. I had goosebumps throughout those last 2 episodes. It felt a little around episode 5 and 6 ( tiny thing I didn't like) but holy fuck the way they caught up to the plot is insane. The Animation is fucking beautiful in this show, which I wasn't expecting. I also don't like that ex bf of Eve , fucking hate him but that just makes his character ig. Throughout the season, I feel very sympathetic towards Mark in his human form and also the time where he's Invincible. He's trying to make everything right, but fails to do that most of the time. I just felt so sad at his state of him getting obliterated by his own dad. Another character I really liked were the clones, I was just happy to see them when they were on the scene. AND CECIL'S KI AWAAAZ BC , ITNI DEEP, Whenever i heam it's just so hot. All in all, I really enjoyed this show and I am looking forward to season 2 !
Hmm the way Nolan talked about Viltrum I really don't trust him.. I didn't read the comics so I don't know if what he says is verfied by earth.. Could it be that Viltrum is acutally not that cool and all friendly and hes actually preparing earth for some kind of invasion..? And thats why he killed the guardians..?
An imperfect but important perspective on the realities of a world with superheroes.
a great start! loving the animation style
Some of the animation and the writing (especially mid-season) are a little inconsistent, but this intriguing arc is well-executed, considering I thought it would be annoying at first when I sensed they would push explaining the pilot's cliffhanger to the finale. And that's one hell of a knock-out finale. Very good show.
Episode 1 = 7.2 / 10
Episode 2 = 7.5 / 10
Episode 3 = 7.6 / 10
Episode 4 = 7.2 / 10
Episode 5 = 8.1 / 10
Episode 6 = 8.5 / 10
Episode 7 = 8.6 / 10
Episode 8 = 9.1 / 10
OVERALL:
8 / 10
Initially I had big issues with the low budget visuals and I wondered if maybe by spending a bit less on the voiceover cast (do we really need Jon Hamm for two scenes?) they could have done better in that department, but by the end I got over it. And the writing and acting are quite good, so it works. Plus, I mean, the comicbook is Robert Kirkman's real masterpiece so I think I'm gonna be here next season.
In short, if you like comic book adaptations or really anything related to superheroes then this is a must watch. In my opinion, it's one of the best because the relationships between characters are front and center. It heavily explores father-son relationships as well as coming-of-age friendships and romantic relationships. Also, the animation is great. But fair warning, there is A LOT of blood, guts, etc. It ain't rated Mature for nothing.
Ultimately, I had the same problem with Invincible that I have with most movies and shows of this genre. I simply can't buy the motivations and logic of the villian. I won't go into detail about this (i.e. rant) because I don't really read comics and I never got heavily invested in the recent superhero craze, which tells me that I'm simply not the target audience for this genre, which is fine. But it seems pointless and unfair to lay my broader criticisms on this one show in light of that.
Having said all that, I can recognize a good show when I see one and this one hooked me enough that I watched all of Season 1 in a couple of days and will be tuning in for Season 2. So yeah, I recommend it.
EDIT:
After sitting with Season 1 for a while, I decided to edit my review, mostly for myself in the future, because I wasn’t clear at all about my issue and I'm sure I will forget. The more I’ve reflected, the more I’ve appreciated this show. It really does almost everything right, in my opinion. No doubt, Omni-Man is one of the best villains I’ve seen. He’s just so detestable. Yet, he’s also complex enough for me to want to believe that he cares about his son despite his mission and ideology.
However, I still can’t get over some of the plot details in light of his motivation. Viltrumites are this OP race that are essentially the epitome of ‘survival of the fittest.’ I can accept their backstory as well as their quest for domination and the reason for Nolan initially going to Earth. What doesn’t make sense is why he would spend almost 20 years infiltrating a world that he could conquer in the snap of a finger. According to him, the best of the Viltrumites were sent out on this conquering mission. So one of their best people is basically out of action for two decades playing it low on a planet that he makes very, very clear is completely beneath him and his people? If they wanted Earth, why not take it Day 1? Why not take it himself or call backup? Clearly, he is powerful enough. And if the goal is assimilation, humans must not be viable candidates because he slaughters all the potential candidates (i.e. the guardians). Also, he spends so much time talking about how worthless and puny humans are that assimilation doesn’t vibe anyway. It simply doesn’t make sense.
Despite this, I still stick with my original appreciation of the show and will be tuning in for Season 2.
Absolutely insane. Another media piece from the superhero genre that diverts its way from the mainstream standard just like The Boys. Compelling and original plot with excellent world-building behind it. Animation and colors were striking enough to catch your attention during the whole runtime.
Marvelous. Can't wait for season 2.

One of the best R-rated superhero show I've watched.
