Inside Man 2022

Convoluted. Full of plot holes and nonsensical decisions. Doesn't actually answer any of the questions that it raises. It had so much promise as well. Such a shame.

The fact that Janice lived just spoiled it for me. She is the epitome of an obnoxious know it all who just can’t help but get in her own way. It would have absolutely served her right to have died.

An awesome mini series with top notch actors.
Loved it. If you like police mysteries don't miss this BBC mini series.

Another terrific series from the BBC. Lots to keep you interested and a really good twist at the end.
Upping it from a 9/10 to 10/10

[Netflix] You have to be very generous, or very fan of Stephen Moffat, to buy this unlikely plot in which the characters make absurd decisions in order to fit the script's claims. Everything is so artificial, adjusted with such little skill that it loses the sense of irony, but above all its capacity for surprise. And it seems that not even the director knows quite what to do with this.

Interesting topic in concept, boring and in some parts ridiculous execution, with no big effort to examine the topics it wants to explore in more detail, staying surface level and trying to masquerade it with some classic Moffat "clever" dialouge.

And - as always - yet again another Moffat-Show that revolves around a man that is just TOO cool and smart but offers nothing more interesting than that - like idk, maybe an actual interesting character?
Sorry for being cynical but after Who, Sherlock, The Devils Hour, Jeckyll I kind of get the feeling all these supposed "clever boys" are just a glaring self-inserts on Moffats part who thinks he's just too clever for his audience.

In stark contrast to the self-perception I allege here - this series is convoluted, full of plot contrivances and nonsensical decisions.

The show has a simple premise - “anyone could turn to murder if put in the right circumstance”. It works on two paths. Stanley tucci plays a jailhouse Sherlock Holmes savant with none of the charm. David Tennant plays a vicar who finds himself in an increasingly ridiculous situations.

The show starts off strong and you get a good sense of the characters but as the story continues the coincidences get to the point of ridiculousness. It might still work if the cases tucci’s character were solved with sone of Holmes cleverness.

In the end you have a show filled with fine actors performing two stories that are smushed together all in service of a final scene that doesn’t work. I almost wish they’d made two shows. It would have freed the actors/writers from these constraints and been more fun.

I do give the show credit for taking a chance to tell a complex tale. It certainly isn’t more of the same we see so often these days.

Just a really bad TV series transposition of The silence of the lambs. Painful acting by all the actors, including an unnecessarily pompous Stanley Tucci. Decent David Tennant, although his character is on the verge of ridicule. Two episodes are enough. Delisted.

There is nothing worse than a show that builds itself around cleverness that turns out to actually be very dumb.

I was excited going into the first episode - great cast, great premise, great genre - but my excitement quickly turned sour as I realized the show has very poor writing.

SPOILERS AHEAD
Nothing adds up here. People make ridiculous choices to drive the plot forward and escalate the situation because apparently the writers couldn't come up with anything more reasonable. You are asked to believe a man would sacrifice his life to protect a pedo, but would kill am innocent woman to protect his son. You are asked to believe that a man would be so naive as to think that being convicted of being a pedo would somehow "protect" his family (not to mention the impact it wouldhave on his community, their faith, and his religion in general). You are asked to believe carbon monoxide poisoning makes people murderous.

It's a huge bummer. With better writing this show could be so fun, and so good, but as is it's just kinda shit. With Moffat as writer, I shouldn't be surprised.

This might be the worst show I've ever watched. It's only four episodes and was still a huge waste of time. Every bit of the plot is complete nonsense.

loading replies

I gave this a generous 2/10 because the acting is good. This might be the worst plot out of everything I've ever watched.

Every character makes ridiculously, over the top, bad decisions the entire time. The entire premise is extremely flimsy, and the main message of the story is undercut by the lack of believability.

At least it was only four episodes. The last episode is the worst of them, and the final scene undercuts the rest of the already bad story.

Steven Moffat. Really that may be all I need to say. Incredible concept, brilliantly crafted, insightfully told. Great cast giving credible performances. Truly a unique and thrilling story. Such a twisted tale, right down to the twist in the title. I give this limited series a 9 (brilliant) out of 10. [Crime, Drama, Thriller, Mystery]

this serie is a waste of time

More tiring than fun. The characters are infuriating at time, hard to associate with.

I think the reviewers who are knocking it, took it too seriously.
it's categorised as drama/thriller, but I felt it was more a tongue-in-cheek series.
I found myself cracking up laughing most of the time. it's why I loved it

Other than the man on death row it seems everyone was dumbass in the show. severely lacking common sense and bad acting of couple was the peak of show for whole 4 episode. Taking the accountability of idiotic decision making of everyone, Sherlock holmes behind bars must be having normal Level IQ of sorts. Waste of time

Someone at the BBC should be fired. Grieff said something like, When you find the head it will become clear why I killed her.

And then nothing. Nothing about the matter. I need to know!

:heart:x7
This was a pretty solid crime/drama. It all starts with a simple mistake then keeps building due to lie after lie.

For me, the most frustrating thing was how insanely stupid most of the characters were in this show. Everyone panics and screams at the top of their lungs about crimes they have committed or are contemplating on committing. But who knows, maybe I'd act the same way if I were ever in a similar situation.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

5.5
Hmm not sure what to think about it, first of all for someone who gets very easily secondhand embarrassment/nervous at uncomfortable, social/emotional situations it was very hard to get through, the suspense/uneasiness was intense :’D (but that might be a plus for others)

if you decide to watch it (and it’s really not a must) you should (try to) do it in one sitting because it’s very easy to lose focus/interest, or to get confused. Tbh I mostly just watched it for Tennant and he did a great job, as always. But the story is meh and the characters act pretty stupid most of the time. I guess they wanted to make them act more like normal average people who are not totally calculated and good at murder, but the stupidity at the most basic logic things were a little too much sometimes.

LIKE TAPING THE PHONE INSTEAD OF PUTTING IT ON MUTE?!?!?! That one made me mad lol.

The ending felt pretty ridiculous and even the everyone can be a murder if put in the right(/wrong) situation philosophy felt a little hollow idk, Im not really convinced

I just finished this on Netflix - all 4 episodes. It's a nice little drama-thriller - clever, funny, dark.

The death row detective parts were great, but the side story with the couple sucked. The wife is a dumbass. The husband is a dumbass. They just keep digging themselves in deeper in deeper even though it's clear the truth from the jump would've ended it before it started.

The dumbest story of it all is the therapist who has no idea that a kid she's been seeing regularly for at least a few weeks before this show even starts. The initial meeting of the reporter and the therapist is then 6-7 weeks to the fiasco between the husband and the wife. so it's totally unbelievable that the therapist would even believe it was the son.

Then with the police, the husband still sits there like a dumbass still refuses to come clean. Just stood after more stupid.

Stephen Moffat screwed this up with an absurdity unbelievable script. The only good part was the acting and Stanley Tucci.

With plenty of twists and turns, this show will have you guessing until the very end. The storyline is well-developed and the characters are intriguing, making it easy to get invested in the plot. Overall, Inside Man is an excellent watch for anyone who loves a good thriller with unexpected surprises at every turn

Superbly clever writing, excellent acting, and a plot that pulls together "unrelated" people. Stanley Tucci's Grieff is a magnetic character and a brilliant detective. It's a tremendous morality play examining the sacrifices which relationships require. Great series (ignoring the factually-impossible post-credits clip)! "We are all murderers…on a bad day."

An entertaining rollercoaster black comedy. Good fun.

Great premise, and I love murder mysteries, but unfortunately it has many plot holes and is just weird at times.

haven't finished it yet so can't say for sure, but i love the acting in this. all incredible actors playing people who are at times stupid, obnoxious, and pitiable. i've got emotional whiplash from how back and forth i go on david tennant's character in particular.

Deep black British humor with a side dish of introspection.

The genius master mind hostage that really thinks the usb device owner is the kid... sure completely reliable ... i liked the show but i ll rate it 1/10 in honor of "janice" the number one of stupid characters in movie history.
