literally sat there mumbling holy shit to myself.... holy shit
overall this was an enjoyable episode, but i'm incredibly annoyed that one of the very few shows with a gay poc character chose to do a hiv storyline and picked a gay character to be the one to contract it. i'm aware that hiv is still a problem, and slightly more so among gay men, but if they were going to feature a storyline to spread awareness on safe sex, they could have done so without consciously reinforcing the stereotype of gay promiscuity and carelessness with protection. that's incredibly lazy, cheap writing and a disservice to how well they'd been doing before compared to other shows in treating conor and oliver the same way they would straight characters.
The moral of the story : Building a net of lies and keeping the truth a secret doesn't save you, it gets you killed.
I am so numb after this episode.
And that is how you do a season finale, people. Make sure you leave the viewers wanting more and wishing they could fast forward to Fall 2015.
Very juicy. Completely over the top, but Viola Davis can make any movie rise to the occasion.
She's a hot mess. Sexy, beautiful, vulnerable, tough, brilliant, smart, manipulative, and lying her ass off.
Everyone on this show has a messy background and a psyche to match.
Everyone looks everyone else in the eye and lies through their teeth, while asking everyone else to tell them the truth.
This show should be subtitled, How To Get Away With Lying Every Chance You Get, While Humping Anything That Moves Breathes, or Is Not Nailed Down!
I didn't see that coming
Everything made sence to me. I realy liked the finale. I don't think Analisse knows Frank kiled Lila, but we'll see next season. I'm glad Rebbeca is gone. Can't wait for next season!
my GOOOD I DON'T BELIEVE, THE BEST SHOW EVEER. MARLENE KING THIS IS HOW DO BITCH LET'S GO TO SEASON 2
Pretty amazing season finale. They did just enough to give us answers but still left us with so many new questions.
And the plot twist was pretty well done, we had hints about how Frank acts and what's expected of him all the time and he was never a suspect.
Now I can't wait for next season to start!
The show itself started quite strong. It was intriguing despite some weird story decisions (having students do leg work for a well known lawyer like Keating).
But throughout the story the writers pretty often went "full retard" to provoke. My best guess: all for better ratings.
The amount of cheap shots are stacking high but that isn't necessary considering the general strong acting in this show.
At the beginning up until roughly the middle I had my problems with the portrayal of Connor and his homosexuality. How it was exploited to get what Connor needed, mostly information for Keating. The time she called him out on it was kind of redeeming for the show but soon after it was taken over by other crap.
Most recent was the plot of two gay men blaming a woman for raping one of them so they could get a decent amount of money, instead of using such a plot to deal with a real issue: men being raped by women while it's not taken seriously.
Now Oliver got HIV, from all the people it's one of the gay characters. Again, stereotypical prejudices used in this show exploited to "shock", or rather provoke. Maybe it's even the payback that Connor was such a whore at the beginning and he actually infected Oliver but we'll see...
But what strikes me the most here is the fact that fans claim this show advertises safer sex or getting tested for STDs. F*cking hell. It's a sideplot without any of that meaning, it's mentioned without any focus on those two and is another example of the crucial problems this show has but it's blindly praised.
Considering the plot in this double episode, I have my doubts that the outcome of Frank being the one who killed Lila was the initial idea. I guess it was supposed to end differently, hadn't this gotten another season. While Frank was always this mysterious, cool-headed character, it feels like a backdoor that was kept open for a second season order. Otherwise it feels too easy and I wasn't really surprised. He wouldn't be my first guess but definitely not my last and if what the flashback shows was the actuall truth, Sam ultimately killed Lila nontheless as he was the one blackmailing Frank to do it even if he wasn't choking her to death in person.
In terms of who is the murderer of Rebecca: My best bet is Bonnie. She vanishes from the episode after she sends the doucheface home without any word and she was the one who got a lot of her confidence back the last couple of episodes, proving herself to Keating as she desperately wants her approval. It opens the chance of showing what happened from her perspective afterwards and fill another episode.
I definitely rule out the obvious ones: Frank, Keating and Wes.
I've got my doubts about Connor. Other two suspects would then be Michaela, who recently discovered she's from the "Ghetto" and can't hide it (stereotypical, so it fits the show) or Laurel, who is also rather cool headed.
Somehow, the cliffhanger has some resemblance to the season 3 cliffhanger of Breaking Bad but without any of its brilliance (and shock value).
OMG!!! You can't be serious!
Rewatching this season for like the third time and I was focusing on frank’s reaction through all the developments and it’s so crazy the way he wasn’t even fazed, through out the madness he never considered saying like hey guys so actually this happened.
And honestly Rebecca was an awful person to Wes, he loved her and always tried to help her and even tho maybe she doesn’t owe him cause he chose to get involved, like at least don’t say he killed his mom, that was such a low blow, and all she had to do was tell Wes the truth since the beginning, and poor Rudy a forgotten victim :(
Well well, interesting finale! I am intrigued as to why Frank owed something to Sam. And well, in theory Sam is indeed responsible for about 50% of the murder. Did he kill Rebbeca (assuming he did... who knows) to keep her from going to the police again and dig again in the Lila murder, or to protect himself and everyone else for the murder of Sam? Probably a bit of two. Mmm at least Rebbeca got to know the truth before she died. The only "Mmm moment" was when Frank put Lila on the tank and her phone fell... it was a considerable height, it was impossible that he didn't listen when it fell. At first I thought he left it to dismise him somehow of being the possible murderer, but, he was with Sam so... And I don't remember well, too, but I think Rebbeca grabbed Lila's phone not in the floor but in the building rail. That's why I thought Frank intentionally left it there.... Well! Season two, here I come.
I didn't see that coming
