One of my favorite episodes from the entire series. The way the movie appears to attack Ted more and more personally as it goes along just gets funnier and funnier.

"Go sensei! Give love a roundhouse kick...to the heart!"

Tom Virtue really does pop up in the most unexpected places…

So it's pretty rich for a show that leans into as many romcom tropes as HIMYM does to poke fun at them, but on the other hand, "The Wedding Bride" was a hilarious take down of those kinds of films that had the added bonus of recontextualizing the events of the show from another perspective. The humor from the fake movie itself and everyone's reaction to it was on point, and lining up Ted's apology with the big speech from the film itself was a nice little self-reflexive gag.

The B-story about Marshall being too nice was a little slight, but I did appreciate how it fed back into the main story about Ted being sincere and uncynical, and the little lesson at the end about how being open about your baggage with people makes it easier to deal with was a nice note to go out on, even if it was undercut by the tag.

I’d be so pissed of this happened to me at the cinema on the final scene
