This show could have gone really differently if one of them slipped, also how tf are they supposed to get out of someone else’s house
There's some good laughs and good thematic material here. The idea of leaping to the patio across the deck is kind of hokey as a metaphor for personal growth, and while Ted chasing after being an architect like that goat chasing a washcloth is much in the same vein, it at least leads to the amusing goat fight scene. I sort of like Lily's speech about taking what the universe gives you, and I appreciate the idea about not being slavish to a plan, but it's also a little facile.
The rest of the episode is mixed. Marshall's non-jump montage was amusing (especially his exchange with Lily about the Kinevils and her not being pregnant). As I've said several times, I've never really been on board with Barney-Robin, and the fact that Barney's "being in love" with Robin can be completely deflated by her Mosbying him (a hilarious term that's well employed) makes it seem more like the child-like infatuation of casanova than real love. Seeing Robin's side of it adds a new dimension to the story, but their nigh-endless "I love you"/"let's be friends"/"now I'm interested" routine is too cornball to seem like the beginning of a relationship worth being invested in.
But all-in-all, it's a decent if unspectacular way to end a season that had more highs than I'd remembered.

Only Ted would get beat up by a female goat or a goat in general.
