8.8/10. Pretty wonderfully structured and paced episode. It's close to a bottle episode were it not for the trademark HIMYM use of flashbacks and non-linear storytelling, but more than that, it captures the vibe of friends just hanging out and ribbing each other over this and that. The A-story (more or less) about Ted falling into a destructive cycle with his old girlfriend benefits both from the reveal that everything he's building up to has already happened, and the twist that things are a little different in the present. Laura Prepon is a well-sketched out snob, and the gags about Marshall and Lily's enthusiasm for Wrestlemania or Karen "lingering" are the icing on the cake. Plus, the meta-commentary about not much happening in a given week, and Barney's glee at the slowly unspooling Marshall pants story is a hoot as well. Some of the humor is a little easy, but it's also quite cozy.

Everyone other than Barney has a horrible sense of humor. The pants story was hilarious as was Barney's reaction to it.
