Not a lot of substance to this one. There's the faintest hint of it with Barney apologizing for forgetting the girl he thinks he slept with, but mostly this is just a fun comedic romp, and it works on those terms. The conceit of March Madness-esque debates over Barney's dating bracket, combined with the silly descriptions of the various outlandish schemes Barney pulled off over the years lets this one win on comedy alone. Lily roaming around with Barney is a pairing we don't get very often, but it definitely worked here, and the mystery element gave the episode a lot of forward momentum to boot.
Now I'm interested in who the mystery girl is because I forget. Part of me thinks it was something along the lines of Lily getting someone to pretend to be this girl Barney slept with just to get him to apologize to the girl even though he never slept with her or even met her.
