Discretion and mystery are two of the main terms perfectly related to Claire; we've seen her at her most fragile moments, from when she cut ties completely with Adam Galloway to the full repercussion and tragic ending of her account of being a rape victim; and here, but not so important (in some ways i even thank her for doing this), how she ended and coldly erased Tom Yates from her story. In each season, Francis has thrown her on the threshold of her vulnerability, in terms of despair, hatred and sadness, but still Claire is human, she recognizes her limit, and that now it's time for Francis to get out of control of her story. It's ironic that Francis said just a few minutes into the season finale that sometimes you don't need to watch the full movie to know how it ends, because he could practically have predicted how this struggle would come to this end, in his exile, after Claire admitted that she would do the same as him to get where they got to, reiterating what Yates had already said about both of them at the beginning: they're are equal particles.. And well, as someone who followed the exposition of Spacey's crimes and at that time watched the series, i believe it was a satisfying farewell for Francis and Spacey.
Many ups and downs, but great season after all. Especially the election phase .
