Boy am I disappointed to see that the "Samantha" plot thread got dropped immediately. Brad had a few episodes in the limelight to develop his character, but this felt like a joke the way he met a girl, got engaged, and broke up with her (or at least that's implied) all in 20 minutes. Samantha could have been interesting as a much longer-running story for Brad.
The showrunners seem to have dropped the idea of following long-term relationships at all, for any of the cast—Brad broke up with Angela, we haven't seen or heard about Lauren and Randy for a while, and Al mutually agreed to split with Ilene (who's now engaged as of the previous episode). The crossover of actors with Boy Meets World might have given me false hope that Home Improvement would also continue to pursue long-term character arcs. Too bad.
