Finally, an LGBTQ+ series with no drugs, sex, or alcohol & hardly even a swear word. It was just a sweet, innocent, coming of age story about friendships and first love. The one so many of us have desperately needed for so long
It's cute and all, but do teenagers these days actually talk like that...? I mean the interactions between the main characters are okay but whenever the side characters speak they seem kinda off and awkward and their lines feel unnatural and forced. Saying stuff like "I'm qualified from the University of Hair Stylists", really? What kinda conversation is that?
On my third watch right now and it’s just a wonderful show. The earnestness and honesty in the actors’ portrayals. The tenderness in the writing. The way the directing so wonderfully captures those feelings of first attraction and uncertainty balanced with desire. It doesn’t pretend that we live in a perfect world for LGBTQ+ folk but the focus is hope and connection and love—romantic, friendship, or family. I can’t wait for the next two seasons and hope they get the opportunity to tell the full extent of the Heartstopper story. :fallen_leaf::leaves:
Seemed pretty bland to me compared to the graphic novels.
i adore the lighthearted feel of this season, it’s not quite as good as the novels, but still made me happy.
A very mildly teen-spirited and comfort-watch show gradually building up to a most beautiful love declaration.
Deliciously english in its mastery of flourished language and manners, layering gentleness thick: works quite well :)
(also, cutey little heart animations :) )
[Netflix] It is so simple and charming that it is difficult not to fall in love with its protagonists, but the main success is to finally create a story of teenagers for teenagers. And even the animation elements that connect it to its webcomic origins, which are admittedly cheesy, fit right into the context. A proposal that is so fresh, delicious and positive that even the bullies are charming (as stupid as they are).
