Halt and Catch Fire: Season 1

1x01 I/O

There is no way around it. This show starts slowly. Episode one contains exposition to set the tone.
This is not something to worry about. You don't need to know the coding, the engineering, or any of that.
This is about the characters.

This is my second viewing of the show since its original air date. I love these characters so much, and this initial episode is a gateway into what the series will bring.

This show has been on my back burner for a while.
I've been in the IT field for over a decade and relate to a lot of this.

But as for a show, it feels a bit slow and puts my wife (non geek) to sleep.

Is this a show I should watch on my own or will it pick up and keep my non geeky wife awake?

Am I supposed to like the salesman, because he's an extremely unlikable asshole. If he's supposed to be the plucky hero whose drive and verve pushes all those around him to be their best - then, fuck that guy, I'm not watching. If someone punches him in the mouth in episode 2, maybe I'll keep going.

Waited until my Systems Programming module was over until starting this... So the assembly code and references didn't stress me out more ;)
Interesting start to the show. Pace and representation of the content is solid. Loving Cameron. Looking forward to where it goes.

I'm glad I waited until Mad Men was over and done with, and stored in my memory banks before starting this series. I actually had watched the first few eps during the original first season run, but I decided to hold off. Re-starting.
