It's a mixed bag on this episode. IMO the Kwan Ha storyline is as irritating, yet uninteresting, as her character. She feels miscast, and as such, pulls you out of the suspension of disbelief. It's as if the writers don't know what to do with her. You could eliminate her from the show, and she really wouldn't be missed, nor would anyone notice she were gone, unless it was explicitly pointed out. Bokeem Woodbine is valiantly trying to do what he can with the little he is being given, but, he can only do so much.
Just realized that Halsey and Captain Keys are "a thing", but is Miranda their progeny? Enquiring minds and all that.
Sooo, then, the suppression pellet is apparently a GOOD thing for certain personality types who have been turned into super-soldiers. While John is still very much in control of his emotions, (save for the slip when he realized Halsey's betrayal, and of course killing the covenant soldier) and is still able to function in a combat situation, Kai became overwhelmed by hers, as she for the first time actually FELT the reality of combat. From childhood, John appears to have possessed superior physical strength, but has some repressed anger issues, which can actually HELP him in combat, while Kai experienced a form of shell shock where she just shut down. Just an observation.
Hmmmm, is the little artifact the remote control for the larger one? Or, is it more of a Fat Man, Little Boy scenario?
Makee is such an obvious plant that IRL she would be immediately Mozambique'd and left on a pike as a warning! But, that's just me.
The weakest thing in this series continues to be Kwan Ha. The character is weak; the story is boring and uninspired; the actress is miscast and not very good; and it adds nothing to the show. Every time the show returned to Madrigal, the main storyline crawls to a halt — which us unfortunate because the main storyline is actually starting to get good. The action at the end of the episode was much better than the one in the pilot.
I have to laugh at all the 10/10 best episode of all time reviews on IMDB. Sure, action happened, but there's still way too much filler within the plot.
A battle scene. Yip.
Why does 117 run around with half an armour suit on for most of this series? He's Spartan. And using a wet rag like Pablo as a character, he would best suited of he was portraying the character properly by doing a Mando and keeping the helmet ON.
Too much touchy feely going on. Maybe the showrunners should have invested more time in researching the damn video game this is supposed to be based on. It's Halo running as a soap.
I'll watch it to the end of this season and if it doesn't pick up I'm outta here. I'm expecting violin music to break out next week.
Aliens in fiction should just use English. They talk very slowly like toddlers when speaking their own language. lol
Show is a nerd's wet dream - I love it.
My biggest issue with this episode ? It's too short. My second biggest ? Kwan Ha. Doesn't seem to be connected to the main story, is utterly uninteresting and is just taking away time.
The rest I did enjoy. Yes, it moves a bit slow but I don't mind. I didn't expect the whole plot to reavealed half way through and I'm sure this is projected for multiple seasons.
I'd hoped the title meant Halsey's day of reckocking had come but it's probably too early for that.
I'm disgusted with this Halsey and her plans. I wasn't sad when the Covenant recovered the artifact.
54 | Finally there were action scenes, the best element of the series. The last time we got it was in episode one, it should give us more of that because that would help the audiences away from boringness. There was also a little twist which gave us mixed feelings about it. It was not gave the character development on the optimal level. Kwan Ha just never stopped being a joke with her naiveness, she should realize that she is powerless and did not has an influence on Madrigal.

Poor writing and story arc can't be wiped away by 10 minutes of flashy combat scenes.
The way the covenant planted that girl was the most obviously sus shit ever, lol.
