Omg I am so disappointed.
I had high expectations.
He took his helmet off WTF!!!!!
Where are the grunts?? I only sa elites.
It’s notebable that the dint researched the original ip.
Again Hollywood took an ip and did there own cheap thing with it. To get maximum money out of it. With less effort. generic story writing. Human on human
Baby sitting a human girl. Do I need to go on?
Only plus point is the look of the Spartans
Action it self is good.
Everything else is bad generic cheap writhing.
I´m a gamer and never played Halo more than 5 minutes. I dont care if it doesnt follow the source material or if he took his helmet off. This is an incredibly awesome action sci-fi show! Just enjoy it!
They managed to turn the epic story of Halo into the same nonsense that US has been pushing out the last few years:
"Let's make everyone corrupt, there are conspiracies everywhere, everyone is evil, and everyone whines a lot! We're such great writers, wow!"
Recommended
I did not expect this show to rigidly follow the path of John Spartan shown in the Halo franchise, and was delighted with what I saw. Despite the comments by the trolls and the Halo purist's the elements are all there and a central female character is needed for a television audience, the storyline is just a slight detour in a Halo multiverse (to mix metaphor's). I thought it was a GREAT start for a television series and want to see more. Way to go Paramount!
I was a little worried due to all the backlash I saw about the first episode. Watched it, and thought it got too much hate. Please don't cancel this.
This show is straight trash. Horrible writing bad CGI. The only cool thing is master chef's helmet. I could make a better show with your mom heyoooo.
My experience is from the LATAM Dub version, we have the same voice actors of the games so the master chief have the voice game and is fucking awesome :star_struck:
The show is something like a prequel BASED on the games.
The writers explained it's supposed to be an alternate universe, especially since most of the time the Master Chief is without his helmet... which is weird at first but the actor is a good image for the Master Chief, he fits the role.
In the show the Master Chief is more human that the games, in the games we have the perfect soldier, I don't have a problem with that, something similar happens with Geralt from The Witcher compared to the books and how a witch should be, the same happens with The Mandalorian and Grogu. At the end in a TV show you need human characters that you can empathize with, I'm ok with that.
In the games you are the human part of the character.
The CGI when interacting with humans in the same scene is bad, very bad, but in scenes without humans it's fine, I hope it improves with time.
I look forward to the rest of the episodes, I hope they don't cancel this, it's the only thing that made me pay Paramount+ sub.
As someone who has only played the first game when it came out on PC, I thought this was all over the place. It's like a SyFy show or one of those straight-to-DVD Starship Troopers sequels. Not one character you care about.
I am a sci-fi fan, not a gamer...don't care about the game story or the books.....All I saw was an excellent first epidode of a new sci-fi series. I don't think they ever intended for it to be an accurate representation of the game. I mean who would spend millions to make a series or TV show only to appeal to a limited number of hard core game fans??? This series so far only 1 episode, but I for one am loving it.
This is an absolutely amazing show, don't listen to the naysayers. If you've been waiting for it for years obviously it's not going to meet your expectations.
I think its very good for people without much knowledge of halo. I am one of those :) For me it was very very good.
Good Story, good cgi, good acting, good action, good scyfi.
Just some episodes with to much Kwan Ha where boring and a bit childish but the spartans are bad ass.
I didn't play the games, so I should be neutral enough to comment. Overall I liked the season, but I feel it could have been so much better.
First, I feel like Chief removed his helmet too soon, Spartans are human turned into brutal emotion-less war machines, the people are talking about their stories, fearing them, respecting them. But we don't get the chance to see them in real action, just some short scenes and it feels like it not enough. Instead, we directly jump into the "I want to know where I am from and I will remove this pellet because I'm a bad kid".
In fact, I would have made this season the second one, and basically focus the first season on "what's a Spartan, what did Halsey achieved with this program". I feel this way would cleary set up the Halo universe for any newbie like me, and the true fans would have enjoyed it a lot for sure.
TLDR: Not bad, but tastes like it's not enough.
I like it, I like it alot :smirk:
Good Action, Aliens ect, Good Stuff
I can allow for some creative leeway for video game adaptations, but get this YA crap out of the show before it ruins it. I was hoping seeing teens exploded by plasma fire was a promising sign but they kept one of these annoying idiots alive and now John has to babysit and do stupid stuff like take his helmet off, rooting for a brute to rip her head off. Also the elite design is bizarre…it looks like they only played infinite and got confused what was a brute and what was an elite. Also i hope they didnt completely removed grunts, that would have been amazing comedic relief
It's okay. Not a big Halo guy but this has a lot of potential. Pretty good pilot, all things considered.
I can't tell if the fanbase for this series is completely brainwashed or some of these reviews are straight up paid.
This show is getting worse and worse and after S02EP4 I'm honestly about to drop it entirely, the writing is too painful.
Seen clips...
No respect for the source material. I can't imagine any fan of the game scoring this above 5. (and a non fan above 7)
haters just don't have enough mommy issues to properly enjoy this
So far, I'm three episodes in. There are two ways to experience this show, whether you have played the games.
The TV show might be hard to watch at times if you have played the games because the main character behaves unexpectedly. One of the main characteristics of the game is that MasterChief is a perfect soldier, stoic, almost machine-like, and always composed.
"Which one of us is the machine" will say an AI to MasterChief.
MasterChief from the games is not the same person as MasterChief from the TV Show. The writers explained it's supposed to be an alternate universe, but even if that's the case, you would expect the main character to be relatively the same person. MasterChief gets angry, screams, and acts embarrassed in the show, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up crying by the end of the season.
That being said, it looks like an intriguing sci-fi story if you forget about the source material.
Only seen first episode so my review is based on that. I'll give it maybe one-two more episodes before I give up. At the moment is basically a cheaper clone of The Mandalorian.
WORT WORT WORT: translation this was very bad and should feel bad. Please cancel for the sake of humanity.
I found the first episode reasonably entertaining. Enough to want to see some more. Came in with very low expectations (I've played the game but how the heck are they going to make a credible tv show out of this?! I am no fan boy or halo purist) and came away from the first episode thinking at the v least this might be some mind numbing sci-fi bang bang entertainment (it has it's place).... at best it might be actually quite watchable. We will see but I had a suitable level of fun from episode number 1 to progress to number 2!
The creators of the show literally said they didn’t look at any source material. They took the basics of Halo and used it to make some shitty show. If they didn’t have the Halo ip nobody would even watch this.
Really enjoyed this, at times the story got a little bit slow (mainly with the whole Kwan Ha arc) but overall it was great. If you take this as separate from the Halo games and more of a "spin off" it's a LOT more enjoyable. Really enjoyed watching Master Chief fight for his humanity, the action was great and the cast all performed well. Very excited for season 2 especially with that ending . 8/10
Lowered my rating as I was so bored on S2E1 I turned it off.
Even if you rule out the excuse that this the not Halo but Halo of an alternative universe to the game. The show is still bad at best. Not one likeable character. A story line that is written and portrayed so poorly. Acting that is average at best. Being six episodes in I'm basically playing the show as background noise just to mark it off as complete in my trakt library.
This is great start to a new show. Why all the hate? Amazing production value.
I don't understand why this is getting so much hate. I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode and thought it was well put together and gave me the "woah, this is cool" feeling. That's all I expect from Sci-fi, expecting some kind of miraculous story is just setting yourself up for a fall! - I really hope they stick with this.
I was really eager to see this, didn't expect much. Ohh boy was I in for a ride. Great sci Fi , great action, amazing effects. I loved it. Anyone that likes sci Fi action Heinlein style, don't miss this.
A great start, I recommend it, even for fans.
I'm no stickler for the original story, that was very good in the game.
I had this on my watchlist for so long, that I almost forgot it - I was also apprehensive on the story take.
Seeing adaptations from games has to be done with a pinch of salt, sometimes more :smirk:
I was surprised to see the helmet come off in the 1st episode, that's granted - they discussed it for sure, and decided to go this way.
I would go as The Mandalorian (https://trakt.tv/shows/the-mandalorian), where the helmet comes off for an important reason, but... that's ok.
The story has a lot to offer, making all that the game had in a series is asking too much.
So this approach of an alternative storyline works very well for me.
Otherwise, how can someone be a fan of Marvel/DC stories, with so many story lines??
Chief's is very well portrayed, as the rest of the cast.
I saw CGI complaints in so many comments, but right from the beginning I was very into the vfx, they are good!
The story arch is interesting to keep me paying attention and not so forth-telling that I could guess the next scene/dialog - that's also because with a different story line, we are given new things that the game didn't have.
I'm hoping for a 2nd season. With more races and even better vfx!
Good action sci fi.Hope there is a good storyline to go along with the action.
I never played the game, so I don't know how faithful this was to the source material. But I felt it was quite good on its own merits. I really hope it gets a second season.
I think what a lot of folks who don't know the franchise are missing isn't that we want the show to be a mirror of the game.
Bungie built a MASSIVE universe that Halo can live within, and told a far reaching story of a galactic war that was told amongst the original trilogy following the Master Chief, a prequel with a previously unknown "Noble Team", a spin off based on ODST troopers, not spartans, and several other tactical games. And we had other live action shows-- some better than others-- and animated movies. And books.
The lore as absurdly huge and it's been proven for nearly 2 decades now that there's MORE than enough room to tell your own story in the (grand) confines of the sandbox that was created.
Throwing all of that away and assuming you can make a better derivative story than countless legions of other creators, archivists, authors, directors? That's the upsetting part. Hell, we didn't even need the story to revolve around John-117 and have him pop up as a 2 minute late season cameo and we would've freaked out.
This story is lazy, and has discarded years of lore which could've been expanded upon (never before told! never seen on screen!) and they chose not to.
Imagine a Star Wars spinoff live action where the creator decided "Yup, I can tell a better story" and adapts the entire universe from the perspective of a lone Jedi who roams the countryside with his trusty blaster in search of the mystical lightsaber, but is thwarted at multiple turns by his father, who feels guilty over abandoning his son at birth. It doesn't. Work.
Same reason the DC movies were trash. Same reason the MCU has been on a decline. Fans demand continuity when a universe has been established. This universe has been in place for 2 decades and actively developed.
This show does not honor that in the least, and is a terrible representation of it. If this had any other name than Halo, it would still be a middling Scifi as well.
An insult to Halo fans across the world.
Finally a show that does justice to the excellent Halo games franchise.... I feared a tv show filled with pointless action, shooting and constantly blowing things up Michael Bay style, but instead I got a good story, good main and supporting characters and more than decent directing. Now and then some less than perfect special effects, but certainly nothing too bad.... Great overal!!!
I enjoyed this. The take off their helmets way too much and not enough action for what I was expecting. Not sure how the side story ties into the main... Seems like filler. I'd like to see another season, but they need to take some more time with the writing.
Most memorable aspect of first episode was chinese out of the blue in the middle of an action scene and several different accents (Indian, eastern Europe, etc.) that were difficult to understand. The Hollywood "diversity" prioritized over quality resulting in gibberish, and that was the first episode that's supposed to get you hooked.
So far I'm liking this show. There are some variances from the game, but that is to be expected. If you go into this expecting to basically watch your own experiences in a popular video game then prepare to be disappointed after episode 1. Now, episode one really cranked up the video game memories with so many references, like jumping over a covenant while perfect firing on him from the arc - totally how you played the game.
I see a couple comments about Master Chief taking off his helmet, but two things to consider: one is that like Mando, the actor wants recognition for getting all buffed up and playing this role and two, it's a TV show and you have to be able to connect to the character. If he keeps his helmet on the entire time you have to hope the writing was as good as Mando that the mask didn't matter to how much you liked the guy and, lets face it, this show isn't Mando so that wasn't going to happen.
From the perspective of "good science fiction with a basis in the game", then you'll enjoy this show if you like fresh sci-fi, but if you view it through the lens of "better be exactly like Halo the game" then you will probably tune out.
I'm tempering my exceptions because this is, after all, Paramount, the current kings of ruining beloved shows with total SJW and wokeness (Discovery, Picard is going that way, the list goes on) so I'm waiting for the inevitable woke crap - but until then I'll just try to enjoy a good sci-fi.
It was darker than I thought it would be, but it does have some campy overtones. Despite this, I will be tuning in next week to see where the show progresses
Wow, i am pretty impressed to be honest
Every time I watch this show, I do so thinking, "Maybe this episode will actually be from the game." So far, I've been disappointed. I mean, at least have the people die in the order of the game or mention Noble Team in Reach. It's like weirdly watchable when he puts on his suit and kicks covenant ass, but then suddenly it's not Halo again as he's taken off his helmet and eating dinner with the girl he saved. Still, I watch, hoping that maybe this time with season 3, he will have Cortana in his suit and be making his way to the control room through some snow.
They added magic to season 2. Not "wow it's technology that looks like magic", but literal magic users.
Sigh.
With this budget they should have just made a good movie and call it a day. So much more profitable probably than wasting 3 years to get loss in the plot, writers have doodoo in their heads.
Show rated a 5. Season 2 rated a 2
Not bad but not great, it's definitly watchable tho'
Not a big Halo fan boy and shooter story games are really boring to me so I could never enjoy the Halo through gaming and I hate reading so books were off limits. This TV show may not be accurate to the Halo fan boys but it is good to bring new people into the lore of Halo.
I tried, I really did... Until I realized that all the best characters and moments were being reduced to nothing. Should have just made a show based on Halo, called it something completely different and scrubbed all obvious similarities because this is not even close.
Why is everyone giving themselves the mark of shame?
Seeing Master Chief without the helmet is like blasphemy
Really enjoyed S1. S2 definitely takes a nosedive. I've never played Halo. The shot choices where it shows gaming POV is awesome.
Honestly thought I wouldn't like this due to not really being a fan of Halo (only played some multiplayer, never the campaigns) and I'm surprised. I quite enjoy the series a lot besides Kwan Ha whom does nothing but scream and cry.
This makes me want to actually play the campaigns of the Halo games.
I am not a hardcore Halo-fan, not having played the games previously. I enjoyed watching the first season as a Sci-Fi show, however, this second season so far really isn't catching me. I'm slowly losing interest in the story, which there isn't much of left anyway.
Just do a mulligan and try again, don't beat this dead horse any more.
We need Bungie's live action show right now!
Love it expect the same in the future hopefully we fair better against our invaders and everyone has a Spartan suit God help us
Episode 4 of Halo Season 2 keeps the momentum going with its gripping storytelling, impressive visuals, and heart-pounding moments that will leave viewers eagerly awaiting the next installment.
For the haters, I was not expecting the much of it, but I really like it. It is an easy watch nothing more nothing less, not going to compare it with other shows or whatever.
So give it a chance, hopefully it will continue
Hi All,Best Science Fiction Series :tv: 2022:ok_hand:.
:point_up_2: - According to wikii, directors etc. the budget of the series was one of the most expensive to reproduce the video game.
- Clearly there are not many reproductions of video games on screen in series or films because it is expensive.:heavy_check_mark:
Loved this TV show. Can’t wait for 2nd season
Surprisingly good. I hope they make more.
[AFTER SEASON 1]
As a whole, it's okay. It's a solid sci-fi show, but I expected more from Halo, which has a mountain of amazing lore. The story is a too basic, but I believe it can grow (if this isn't cancelled). All in all, I enjoyed it. It helps that I'm not a Halo purist, but even I was a little bit annoyed by the fact that Master Chief removes his helmet so much. I think he has more scenes without the helmet than with it on. And that's too bad, because the whole suit is bad ass and spot on. I especially liked the mid season battle scene on Madrigal (even though the "I know how the game is played" line was a bit on the nose). I just hope it becomes more Halo and less generic sci-fi moving forward.
when is season 2 coming i cant wait
:heart:x7
I thought this was well done. They created a decent storyline. I've only ever played the original Halo game and that was a couple decades ago. I could definitely see the game in this show.
And - I hope we get to see a season 2.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Great show... Acting started a little weak but it is an interesting show.
I loved this :) I am excited for more!
This can be so much better.
This show has one of the worst character arcs I've ever seen...
The Spartans are already killing machines designed to take orders and be more effective than any human. They create a problem with a magical device to give Master Chief emotions (while the chip still suppresses them enough to need to be removed later). Then they fix that problem they already had a salutation for (at the beginning of the show) with a made-to-sound appealing AI that is a mute now, for some reason.
The original dynamic is Master Chief is calm and stoic, short on words, he's the best they got. Which plays off the more social AI quite nicely. Now they've effectively made them the same person, that doesn't speak.
This is premium content to example why fans hate non-fans touching the lore. They've no idea what made it appealing in the first place. Not to mention just rewriting it to be so much worse.
I've pulled the plug on this one. The first couple of episodes were good, but then it became more drama than action and the race changing is grinding on my nerves. There were some excellent black characters in the game that could be expanded, but instead of doing that they made a lot of beloved characters black for the sake of an agenda, it's not like the game was devoid of them in any way, but the show wants to pretend it was and make sure we understand they are enlightened now.
But, honestly, in the end it's Master Chief that is ruining it for me. That guy sucked in The Wire and he sucks here too, he's a terrible actor and the entire mystique of Master Chief is no longer a mystique, the guy doesn't keep his helmet on for more than 2 minutes anyway.
It's now just cheesy half baked half agenda driven sci-fi with no depth.
I don't know why they had to call this show Halo and "Based on the Halo Universe" if it were some other original character with its own name then it probably would've gathered more good views. Just watch the Act Man's video on this.
I give this a 5/10 for decent acting, action, gore and CGi.
Edit : Just finished this show, and boy am I glad with the ending. Couple of things I would like to re-iterate :
1. The CGi is decent not good, there are some scenes during the fight in fifth episode and even in the first where you can see cheapo rendering like characters missing AO and shadows and objects looking out of place with uneven Lighting.
2. Episode 2,3 and 4 are just filler episodes they just drag the boring plot and not so liked characters for whole 3 episodes before you see some action again even tho that's still only for a couple of minutes.
3. I accidentally skipped the seventh episode and I'm glad I checked the rating and comments of that episode before watching it because it's just another filler episode for a character I don't like.
4. Kwan Ha is literally the least like-able character in the whole show, just a edgy teenage girl whom everyone tries to help her but no she just have to be a b**ch in return. Nothing against the actress or all the actors in general I get that they're doing what they're supposed to and it's the writers to blame.
5. Also glad with death of Mekee, another not so like-able character. What's her reason behind hating literally whole human race like her own people? Just because she was raised in a shit hole and had her childhood boyfriend beaten to death by a baton guard?
6. John spends more time outside of his helmet rather than inside.
7. If you combine all the action sequences then there is probably not even half an hour worth of action footage in the whole show about a action fps video game.
And I guess that's all. There's a second season coming so we'll see what that'll be about.
Ok... I finished the first season. So? What happened exactly? 9 episodes for...?
Nothing like the game! Only good are graphics and war scenes!

Oh look another show that has its natural flow interrupted by the same ol' industry standards plaguing everything else in the last few years. Hire hack writers who don't care about the source, hire every checkbox in the book, and then blame it on the fans for not liking it. Next.
