Epic piece of shit! No fucking way you can give this a rating lower than a 10.
I watched this anime a long time ago, maybe 2010. This one is EPIC. I remember few shows with the same nostalgia. I loved all of it. There are a lot of shows that have incredible episodes/scenes with energy, emotion, action, and so on, but few can stay good until the end and deliver a great final episode. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is one of those that deliver, amazing characters with a straightforward and well written story, full of moments to remember and a top quality final episode.
i cant watch this show without feeling like a perv because of the blatant hypersexualization. i will say tho it is an "inspiring anime". if you like that sort of stuff then i guess its watchable.
Really great Shounen Anime. Honestly this series practically defines how the Shounen should feel in terms of crazy shenanigans and emphasized action. With a neat little story woven throughout, Gurren Lagann was quite entertaining.
In many ways, it's a very inspired TV show that pushes pushes you to be the best you can be with great characters and a great story .
The transition into the second half when it begins the second arc is a bit jarring and a bit of a drag at first, but it leads into some of the best moments of the series.
I really feel this has been let down by the lecherousness of its creators. Overall, the adult content is probably worthy of nothing more than a PG rating, and I'd be comfortable with explicit content if it were handled well. Instead, sexuality is treated extremely immaturely with Simon's face constantly inadvertantly finding its way into cleavage and it's just an annoying distraction from the otherwise great story.
Starts with fighting underground and ends with... big bang bombs? Doesn't get any more epic than that.
My teen aged self wanted to live in this anime. I wanted to go around dressed in bikini tops, short-shorts and cool obviously-fake sunglasses. Good times, great characters, awe inspiring story.

honestly, that wasn't the best anime I saw (contrary to a lot of people), but that's just a "style" problem probably
I'm not talking about drawing style, which is excellent but more of a... general style
however, I agree to say that this anime is F****** EPIC !!! and even when reading this, you won't be able to grasp the full epicness of this, I promise !! ;)
the story is straightforward, you become attached to the characters and the music is great ! (except for the first ending, in my opinion)
To sum it up (because I'm writting a mess here), watch this if you don't want something serious, if you want to have action and live the story, if you want to feel the energy and you crave for epicness !!!

Well said @jumpingforcoins! I had initially watched some episodes but they have left me rather unsatisfied (for being a Gainax show). Now that I've finished the show I gotta say, the levels of awesome they reach in later episodes is a joy to watch!
At the beginning I thought this show is below average but I stick with it and it really catched me after some episodes. Later on there are 2 Great changes in the whole story, lifting the whole thing to a higher level. Still many things are overused and exaggerated but fun watching!
This show is stupidly fantastic. I hesitate to use the word epic because it is so overused, but this show gleefully outdoes itself, constantly jumping the shark with fun, frenetic mech battles. The visual design is bold, with distinct characters and vibrant backgrounds, the soundtrack is full of rousing orchestral pieces and energetic beats, and the plot moves at a brisk pace, jumping one shark after shark. Despite the ridiculousness of some of the situations (giant battleships with legs running up mountain-sides, sunglasses spontaneously changing style in reaction to sheer awesomeness and a wanton disregard for the laws of physics) it manages to have very touching moments between characters. It also takes a lot of guts with quite a surprising bereavement about a third-way into the series that could have derailed the whole show, but instead makes it all the more poignant. Gurren Lagann is an accessible, turbocharged, immensely fun gem that rightly deserves it's rabid fandom.
