Although the show is always fantastical pushing the show from mystical to interstellar seems too much of a stretch in my opinion. Another thing to mention unrelated to the episodes content this episode is marked as episode 35 on Disney Plus rather than 39

[5.5/10] What was this? I was already growing tired of this Avalon boat cruise arc, and now we’re doing aliens and amnesia? I suppose there's something to the idea of the “mystery” of Easter Island being aliens as a premise. This show definitely has a “myths and urban legends are true” bent to it (see also: the Loch Ness Monster episode), but this feels like a bridge too far.
Maybe that’s unfair. At base, aliens are no more fantastical than time travel, or werewolves, or Xanatos androids, or the other enchanted creatures and artifacts that make up the block and tackle of Gargoyles. But for whatever reason, having a big Easter Island headed extraterrestrial giving our heroes trouble just seems out of step with the rest of the show. Nokkar’s story about protecting Earth from an intergalactic threat makes for an odd fit from the jump.
And that’s before you get to the amnesia. Look, can amnesia plots be done well? Sure. You have films like Memento that find interesting things to do with the idea. But on longer form stories, it almost inevitably comes off as cheesy at best. There’s hay to be made from Elisa waking up, seeing monsters who claim to be her friends, and having to sort out her reaction. But the show does the bare minimum here, falling back on a “I trust my instincts about these creatures” tale with little for the audience to latch onto.
Overall, this is one of the show’s biggest misfires so far, with two major plot elements that might be enough to sink the episode on their own, but which combined, make for a one-two punch of poor story choices.
