Strange how an anime set in a futuristic sci-fi setting that adepts only the second half of the book is easily a better adaptation that the one Hollywood made. This show is probably better to watch if you are completely unfamiliar with the story of "The Count of Monte Cristo" since this version doesn't tell you his story in advance leaving it as a mystery.
