"The Castle" is easily the worst episode of Fargo to date. I can't even begin to comprehend how the writers thought having a UFO appear during the shootout would be a good idea, especially when its sole purpose is to act as a "Deus Ex Machina." The shootout was simply mindless before this unbelievable contrivance, as none of these characters is likeable or developed enough to invest any emotional stakes for, except for Hank Larsson. While I enjoyed hearing Martin Freeman's voice, his narration was out of place and felt tacked on to rationalise how badly these writers butchered Hanzee Dent.
Overall, this is a terrible episode, and perhaps the point at which this show has jumped the shark.

I’m not sure if the flying saucers made the episode better or worse. I’m gonna say worse, and that’s why I’m giving it an 8 rather than a 9. But it did set up a good laugh from Peggy.
