2x02 Before the Law

"Before the Law is a parable contained in the novel The Trial (German: Der Prozess) by Franz Kafka. A man from the country seeks the law and wishes to gain entry to the law through an open doorway, but the doorkeeper tells the man that he cannot go through."

"Before the Law" is another disappointing episode of this second season, though not as bad as the contrived mess that was the premiere, in my opinion. While I like the character of Mike Milligan so far, he is not enough to sustain my interest in what feels like a dragged out and contrived story. There seem to be too many convenient moments tacked on for the sake of adding suspense, especially the final scene between Lou and Ed. Also, while bad acting and odd uses of flashbacks are less prevalent compared to the premiere, the unnecessary split screens are still present and are annoying.

Overall, a disappointing start to this formerly great show.
