Pretty good presentation of the ideological switch that happened. As I never knew that era, I was wondering whether the fact that companies used to have values was an idealized vision that never really existed.

As for the conclusion, "Most shareholders want have values and morals and companies that contribute to the world instead of harming people and destroying it."

Well, sure. But it's too late. "Most shareholders" represent maybe 5% of the shares, while the 95% left are owned by a handful of assholes who don't give a shit.

Anybody in a corporate environment can notice that the switch to immediate terms profits is not decreasing, but visibly accelerating.

As for the concerned consumers, companies quickly figured out that they didn't need to have values or be responsible, they just need to appear to be. Cue to huge green/socialwashing budgets and no real action.
