Dopesick had been on my watch list for a while, but it's a drama about drug abuse in a foreign country, so no urgency
After 10 hours of binge watching, I went and bought the book
This was so enjoyable by personalising the opioid epidemic (except for members of the Sackler family - the series definitely didn't humanise them!).
In my mind, it is one of the few things where casting has been a huge part of it's success - with a special call-out to Michael Keaton
Recommended
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Excellent show - just one example of the egregious greed of the very rich and how they are always ‘that is a sacrifice I am willing to make’ with regards to public health & and welfare of all the ‘regular folks’. How they pretend to be good with their museum and hospital wings - when they are really very very bad.
Sacklers are still sitting comfortably on all their billions - while so many had their lives cut short and/or destroyed.
Many more rich people and companies are like this - and these guys and gals are the real villains of the story.
Probably soon coming ‘Exxon - the company that chose profit over the planet’ ….they fucking knew back when there was still time to make a difference and still they chose the path of perdition.

This is an absolutely exceptional docuseries, so graphic and eye opening. Everyone should watch this to educate yourselves on why the US especially is in such a terrible situation with this epidemic!
