Worst season since the reboot! U can easily skip it... No, u should to not thinking bad about...thinking bad about D*****... about Who?
This season was a bit all over the place. Started good, and ended absolutely fantastically, but the middle had some of the worst episodes of Doctor Who yet.
I am an old fan of Doctor Who. I will only rated the Ninth Series as great, because of Jenna and Capaldi. Before Moffat, the series I usually rate as 10/10, because of the Doctor. the plot and the actors. Moffat turned the show in a low level random episodes. I wonder when he is going to drop the show. Basically I am a fan of the Doctor, not Moffat.
Almost close to beating Series 5, but that still remains the best series of Who since 2005 (perhaps the best in the show's entire 52 year history!).
BEST SEASON since the 9th Doctor - absolutely smashing! One not-so-good episode, but besides that, I was riveted! Capaldi brings it, absolutely brilliant as the Doctor. I can think of at least 5 different moments of his well-worthy of all the trophies!
Average episode rating this season: 6.916666…
I say watch episodes 5, 6, and 10-12.
The rest aren't important. About half of them are downright bad, and the other half are aggressively "meh".
Mostly brilliant stories and an amazing Doctor and companion duo. The Twelfth Doctor and Clara must be one of the best in all of Doctor Who. Their story arc over season 8 and 9 is the best story arc this show has ever had and it concludes perfectly in Hell Bent.
For sure better than the last four seasons, very good narration - the two-episode formula has been a magneficent choice for this type of storytelling, giving space to better dialogues and deeper stories - and quite good plots. Some downs along the road but after Smith's seasons i personally didn't have expectations of perfection. A great Capaldi, who finally has a full control over HIS Doctor and not on an inherited one, and finally some good respect and good use of the classic and early reboot seasons mithology, which they totally forgot about in 5th, 6th and 7th season (exluding 50th anniversary).
One personal question: i kinda doubt that Moffat & co. can produce a better season, at least the 10th. Not for direction or for Capaldi's performance, but for the plot, which has to become greater and greater over time. In this seasons some important changes in the condition of one of his greatest enemy, tremendous prophecies and so on, what about the next time? As i see it one of the biggest mistakes with Smith's seasons was that every single time the plot was about colossal events, like the whole universe in danger because of time fractures, or even The Death Of The Doctor (even when we know he regenerates quite easily), i really hope that they don't repeat the same mistake because it's harmful for the whole show and wearing for the audience.
This season was great, overall. Probably the second best from the Moffat era, behind season 5. The episodes were way more interesting and way less pretentious (looking at you, season 6 story arc). Capaldi is a great Doctor.

3 great episodes, 9 ranging from utter shit to acceptable. Easily the worst season since the reboot. the plots were incredibly predictable this time around. This is the first time a season of Doctor Who really felt like a kids' show to me, the writing was just so weak and generic, this season only manages to impress if you're familiar with a...limited amount of other media.
