Dead to Me 2019

I could watch Jen and Judy talk about nothing all day. Great casting and totally binge worthy.

Wow, really an amazing show... interesting. Blurs the line between "right and wrong" in a different way. I HOPE NETFLIX WON'T CANCEL THIS -_-

The chemistry between the two leads are amazing. Keeps you on your toes the whole time and generally has a great comedic vibe. S2 was slower bet never bad, the ending was unexpected. Can’t wait for s3!!

A "wow, that escalated quickly" type of show that's very fun to watch. Great cast! 100% binge-worthy.

Great show, great depth to the characters! The writing is full of surprises and sarcasm which makes it all the more fun! Good quick watch!

This was such a good show! Great mix of comedy and drama. Jen and Judy are easy to love and the story managed to surprise me a few times.

I felt sorry for Judy when she found out that she couldn't have children, the only thing she wanted in her life was to have a family.

I don't know that this is normally my cup of tea, but going in my queue on the strength of Christina Applegate. I came here for the breaking news that Applegate was just diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis—after a long health break, she pushed through the last half of of Season 3; her last. This is devastating news. I grew up on Married with Children—hated it—loved it—hated it—loved it—loved to hate it—hated myself for loving it—just finally loved it. Christina is an amazing comic. :(

is there going to be a season 3?

This was definitely a bingeworthy show though it was predictable for the most part. I just couldn't help but fall in love with the chemistry between Jen and Judy. This was a nice quick watch.

The show fell flat, predictable plotlines and badly written. The show attempts are cringey and laughable.. IMO

Love this show, suuuuch good acting from the 2 main leads

Stupid show. Entertaining at times, but ultimately the characters act in ways that are so far removed from reality that it becomes unwatchable.

Really good show I hope that it gets renewed

Great show! Drama was realistic, characters were realistic, acting was great, and the story was great too. The only problem was within the last couple of minutes of the last episode. In order to make a lead for season 2, they really screwed things up.

One of the best shows. Like the concept, intriguing storyline. Can't wait for the next season. Hope it won't get cancelled. :fingers_crossed_tone1:

amazing chemistry between the two lady.
easy to watch and i loved this show.

Started great and with each season the quality dipped. But these characters and actors are so like able that it’s almost one of those comfort esk watches. Not great by any means but harmless.

I really like grotesque plot setups, but the more you watch the more it become absurd and ridicolous. The shark jumps in season two episode one: Twins?! Really?! In S02E01 the cast twist with Married with... co-star Katey Sagal cannot rescue it at all. FFO Desperate Housewives and Weeds.

This show starts great, season 1 and 2 but starts to get super depressing, season 3, and ends poorly, last episode. You can skip season 3 because it’s useless but do watch it if you want to feel like shit or depressed.

3 Thoughts After Completing ‘Dead to Me’:

  1. I already loved Applegate, but this show made me a fan of Cardellini, whose delightful charm is a major highlight of this series. Their pairing is cute for sure.

  2. An overabundance of incessant secrets grows as tired as some of the plot points. While it’s a show worth checking out, I can’t say it’ll be one that sticks around in your memory.

  3. The final season takes a major shift in tone that, I believe, becomes a detriment to the series. A lot of the fun is gone.

I am a sucker for your average Joe being wrapped up in illegal stuff, and navigating life (Breaking Bad, Ozark, Weeds, Good Girls). This is in that same realm. The first season is great. And this may have been best served as a limited series event. Seasons 2 and 3 dip in quality a bit, even if it was still engaging. Once Season 2 happened, they needed to wrap it up with Season 3. Unfortunately, the gaps in between the two seasons make the show noticeably lose steam as it reaches it end.

Again, this might be hypercritical, because I still highly enjoyed the show and is one worth checking out!

Average Season Review: 7.83/10

Recommendation: At Least Give it a Whirl (For Dark Comedy / Drama Fans)

Really drops off after the first season. Great cast but just not a lot of story to work with. The nonstop crying didn’t help at all either…

An exceptionally good story almost ruined by soy Netflix dialogue that is very out of place sometimes. It's almost as if the writer has never interacted with other human beings, but somehow was able to come up with a story like that.

I loved the show but sad to read about Christina’s desease. We need more of this kind of shows.

How much wine do they drink???? And I say it as an Italian O.O

Some parts are compelling but there are several episodes I lost interest in. I would not watch again.

The first season had an interesting premise and some funny situations, but at the same a lot of generic drama to swallow. I have a weak spot for characters like Jen, and she really carries the whole show.
The joke wears thin by the end of the first season already, and the second gets even more comical and nonsensical. The twin brother gimmick is plainly ridiculous, and the outcome of that story arc is textbook cliché. Still, it's not yet so bad that it becomes a turn-off.
