Dance Moms 2011

So much to say about this train-wreck. Yep, it's one of those shows I watch with one eye closed, mostly when Abby is on screen or when her mouth opens. She is such an ugly person inside-out. Sure, she probably started off with this "character" she shows as more of a catch for the show, but she went way overboard so many times. I'd have definitely put my hands on her if she ever treated my or any other child like that in front of me. Contrary to what Abby thinks, the show isn't really about her; her outburst and erratic behavior maybe a little because they help the ratings.

In the few moments you get to actually see the talent from the young girls, you do appreciate their hard work and dedication. I'm sure it's much easier to deal with Abby's behavior when you're getting paid or notoriety from being on the show, but they also have to deal with being bullied by Abby. Even if when they cut the cameras, they tell the girls, none of this is true. They're too young to actually compartmentalize all of that, especially when they have the "mini's" on-board. A little friendly competition among the team is fine, but Abby pits the girls against each other and it's really a nasty mean girl bloodbath for which ever of the girls is on Abbys Sh*t list that week or season.

Remember poor Chloe? The other sisters who's mom was also a student at the dance company Abby's mom started. Don't get started on Nia, that child never gets the respect or recognition she deserves from Abby. It's almost hard to watch at times because you can't help but wonder what is driving her to keep coming back to that abuse. Is it a form of Stockholm syndrome? Is it really to help advance her career and fame? If my memory serves correct, Chloe was the first to leave but she certainly wasn't the last. The sisters were either just after Chloe or possibly just before - I always get those confused. A few more in between left including the awkward Crazy Candy Apple Lady's child. Even Kendall left for a short time. Asia was a breath of fresh air. She was just bigger than that show and while it did help get her more fame, she obviously has a lot of talent and likely a lot of offers came after her appearance on Dance Moms, so she was out. Can't blame her. Even Maddy and her sister bounced awkwardly...which I think it was awkward because while they were fed up, they probably wanted to keep the perfect dancer image from Maddy so tried to downplay their departure. Sia definitely led them to a path far away from Abby's grip.

Ah well, now fast forward to present times, where Kilani is the new Maddy and Nia is the forever Chloe's punching bag replacement - we now have Abby in a slew of legal issues and I believe she has to serve time for this all so it's interesting to see how the show will play out. I had no idea it was coming back August 1st but will watch in hopes that Abby gets replaced and thrown in the slammer! :D Til next show!
