WoW Robby is a f asshole even more than Hawk xD
The setup is done for the upcoming conflicts in love and in the tournament (most likely for season 4). We also get a change to understand why Eagles are the most baddass animals in the world and it gets proven in city council that the LaRusso are bad persons. Thank you for your service sensei kreese
Definitely now how city councils work. You vote on majority, not unilaterally. But, sure okay.
The intro already did the title justice: "The Good, The Bad, and The Badass". I loved those cuts :)
This was a sweet/romantic episode (apart from Kreese being Kreese and Robby getting completely lost).
The appeal scene was also great. Kreese playing it smart, Daniel being a hotsthot (and also Amanda), and Johnny being entertained until he couldn't take Kreese's BS anymore :D Miguel and Sam saved it nicely and the following scene at Miyagi-Do was also nice (the two of them bringing the competing dojos together - kinda a bit like Romeo and Juliet :D). The joke's on Robby though. He and Tory deserve each other (I already wondered if they might eventually become a pair).
Also: Not sure if Johnny should even bother buying a new TV :D (not sure if he destroyed two or three of his TVs now)

While this episode is mostly a setup, it is an exemplary showcase of three sides: The Good (Miyagi-Do), The Bad (Cobra Kai), and The Badass (Eagle Fang Karate). Each side is no longer a mere stereotype like it was in 3 movies, but fully realized with developed back stories and empathetic characters.
Don't get me wrong. I anticipate Lawrence and LaRusso teaming up to kick Kreese's ass. But Kreese is no longer a two dimensional villain but a tragic figure who had to become a fighter to survive. I root for Kreese not to win, but lose big so he can understand how wrong he was.
Most remarkably, I am impressed by how richly developed teenager characters are. In this season, Miguel, Sam, Robby, Tory, Eli, and Demetri all have their reasons for choosing the dojo they picked. In this season, they are all victims bullied into a corner. While Kreese is clearly exploiting Tory and Eli (and I suspect Robby in the coming episodes), Kreese's Cobra Kai offers them a sanctuary where their views are validated and their needs met.
I love Cobra Kai not because it's a kick ass show necessarily, but because it truly captures what it's like to be bullied and judged. The series is ultimately about redemption and acceptance.
