Chucky 2021

So far it seems very good. The Chucky animation is very good and they've built a solid character foundation.

Having it follow on from the main movies with Charles Lee Ray and Brad Dourif is excellent! If it continues on how good episode 1 was it'll be enjoyable

I am not very convinced, the animation is good, the setting is acceptable, the performances are very bad, the main actor is not known if he is angry, constipated or sad. And many citations are like saying "really?", But if they see it scary moovies style ... it is acceptable

5 episodes in and I'm finding it hard to stay engaged. The movies were pretty amazing, even the bad ones, due to embracing their outlandish cheesiness... but this show is feeling far too sanitised and formulaic to the point of extreme boredom.

It's not nearly as creative as the movies and the single kill per episode is so "normal" and repetitive that it's underwhelming. We know they can do more. The story is akin to watching paint dry and the characters are completely wooden. Impossible situations start to happen around episode 3, requiring too much suspension of disbelief that I'm yet to recover from by episode 5.

With this show's bland tone, 'Chucky' has basically turned into another 'Stranger Things' but with a smidge more violence and less promise. I don't know how I can remain interested in another 5 episodes if this is the best they can do... maybe the fanservice and throwbacks will help some.

For all of its blood-soaked mayhem, though, it's also worth noting that Chucky is surprisingly warm in terms of its atmosphere and direction.

I LOVE IT

I like this show a lot! It's definitely my third favorite thing in the entire franchise behind the first two movies. I'll say my one of my biggest issues is that I don't think it really maximizes on the 8 hour runtime. We definitely spend more time with the characters than we would in a traditional Chucky joint, and I think the story really benefits from that, but there's a good bit near the middle that I'm like "alright, let's get on with it!".

I also felt like Junior's turn happened way too quickly. I get it, he's traumatized and in a really bad place, but it just happens and it's such a critical plot point that it's hard to look past.

These issues aside, I definitely liked this. The child actors are GREAT (Alyvia Alyn Lind in particular), and I really liked how they utilized all sorts of different aspects of Chucky lore to create this new beast. I've often said to my friends that I don't really like Chucky past the first two movies very much... looks like that's changed!

Very excited for season 2.

I was surprised by the first season (as some of the movies weren't that good), it was really entertaining!!
I couldn't ask more of the franchise, patiently waiting for season two.

slow and poor. very simple

"Teen angst and teen drama, also Chucky's there."

I'm struggling a lot getting through this. I really hope it gets cancelled soon and forgotten about so someone can make a Chucky series for adults...

I was working on Set of this TV in Toronto as a stage hand. I'm glad to see the final product. Good Watch.

Not a bad show, but there are scenes where things happen that literally don’t make any sense, just filling up time. I do like the fact that some things from the movies come back.

:heart:x5
Not a great series. I found it hard to care about any of the characters. Just a lot of mindless killing. At a couple of spots it seems like there might be a deeper reason for why these people. But in season 1 at least that went nowhere.

But in my opinion, the worst offense this show made is that it suddenly switched from fantasy to reality by introducing Tiffany Valentine as real-life "Jennifer Tilly" without any kind of reasoning behind it.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Watched the first 4 episodes today and I am loving it. It's made by the same guy from all the chucky movies, including the originals, and we can feel the same energy in this tv series.
We learn a bit about the childhood of Charles Lee Ray, we have comedic moments as well as scary ones, just as a chucky movie has gotten us used to.
Some people are talking about the bad acting. I didn't noticed anything unusual, maybe because I'm from another country, I don't know, but so far everything about the show has been a delight to watch for me, as a fan of the original movies.

Chucky Season 1 was a thrilling ride that captured the essence of the original movies. However, Season 2 was a major letdown that went completely off the rails. Season 2 was so bad that it makes me wonder if I should even bother with Season 3.

Season 1 was pretty good and reminded me of the original movies. Season 2 went off the rails and lost it's way.

After a deviation from the original concept in "Seed of Chucky" (2004) and the chaotic "Cult of Chucky" (2017), Don Mancini tries to regain the spirit and make the devil doll bloodthirsty and mischievous. For this, he uses the nostalgia for films that kept the stamp of the 80's slasher movies when it was in decline. The show improves in the development, more than in the presentation and offers good dark humor.

It's interesting to watch this show and how it compares to the original movie released back in 1988. The show did keep my interest as I saw it through its current three seasons, but it does go a little overboard with the ridiculousness. An army of what's best described as alternate reality Chucky dolls that need to be overcome. This really takes away from that retro feeling you get when you go back to watch the original movies. Where Chucky's stabbings and stranglings are front and center and not modern day teenage drama that puts Chucky on the back burner to draw in viewers from the current generation. Some episodes left me wondering if Chucky would even make a second appearance beyond that of the opening scene.

I watched s1,s2,3 in 3 days and the only thing that i considered good in this show was was the relationship between jake and devon because this is trash !! I liked s1 and loved s2 but s3 i don't even know what to say or what is worse than the word trash and the ending killed me

So cool! Need more shows that bring back to 80s and 90s

Sadly it's another series that started strongly losing its way... Its turned into the Devon and Jake kiss constantly show, and while I have no issues with it, you don't want it taking over a show! The program is called Chucky, and this season has him in it the least of all...such a shame as up to now (S03) I've really enjoyed it! I think it's time they did the right thing and push the "cancel" button...

why i waited so long for resume...its boring

Whist it started off as a promising series it had progressive got so bad I simply can't watch it anymore the plot has gone down the drain

Wanted badly to like it, but it's poorly made in every way, the CGI is extremely off-putting, they start off with the tired af cliché of hurting/killing a cat, because they simply couldn't come up with anything better, or more interesting. frankly a good horror flick/series doesn't have to rely on this cheap trope. Every garbage one I've ever seen though, they do this. This is not even just because of my love of animals and it triggering me - this is a matter of it becoming an extremely boring, easy way to attempt upsetting the audience without actually killing a character or setting up a scene like that. It's worse than jumpscares - and lazy directors/writers do this.

I didn't really stick around much longer. The "angsty teenage boy with dad who hates him for being gay" thing is beyond played out at this point. Get a new story, folks. Cliché after cliché - the only good thing about this is Brad Dourif

Season 2 - with 'beefcake' chucky is where I part ways with this show
