It was pretty obvious that Severide was not responsible once the little girl died. Because there's no way in hell they would have one of Fire's main characters be responsible for drunkenly killing a little girl.
Oh god... is Voight going to end up being Erin's father? I think that's what that conversation in the car might have been hinting towards... And it would explain why he took in Erin to begin with...
The scene with Casey coming to talk to Voight was supremely unnecessary. Casey wouldn't be that unreasonable. The only reason it existed was to make the crossover more crossover-y.
