This show has such a different tone when you have all of the previous context. I had seen a dozen or so P.D. episodes before (from a few different seasons), but I didn't have the correct frame of reference. I thought Voight was just a stereotypical loose cannon hardass who broke rules to enforce the law. But instead, he's actually dirty and breaks the law to do what he thinks is right, or for his own gain. It's more like The Shield than it is like Law & Order.
Platt is such an unnecessary character, and her scenes are nothing but time wasters. I hope she develops into something more involved than just trying to be the deadpan comic relief. Because so far, it's not working.
