Pretty mediocre Episode.

Writing was ok for the most part, and of course Mouch not only knows the new Paramedic chief but is friendly enough to change his mind. Its amazing how many high-ranking people he knows without having a decent career.

Its a bit weird that he would block a proposal that supposedly saves money in the first place though. Programs that save money while improving your fulfilment rates are usually implemented (after the math is checked). Even the military which prides itself on tradition usually does so.
The only reason I could see is that the money needed comes from a different budget than the money saved. Shit like that is the number one reason the public sector overpays. I've seen it more than once in the military: Ability to save the military money but it would cost another sector a fraction. So it can't be done, since money reserved for the military can only be spent on the military (a bit oversimplified).

Severide was suspicious of Cruz's stability in the previous episode, so of course he decides to send Cruz in alone for the claustrophobic rescue. Makes perfect sense! Not.

It's been 10 fucking years. That house is really still a burned out husk? Come on. I know it's not impossible, but that's highly unlikely. That suburb didn't look that bad. There's no way that property wouldn't have been snatched up and rebuilt by now.
"I miss him every day." Pfft, you were 6. You barely remember him. Also, for that matter, how the hell did a 16 year-old fly across the country on his own? And he also did it spontaneously without setting up plans with Matt beforehand. Just showed up and hoped for the best. A teenager wouldn't do that to an adult he hasn't seen since he was goddamn 6 years old.
