The fights are freaking intense this season!
MY THOUGHTS ON SEASON 4:
-WARNING: Spoilers Below-
This was honestly such a good final season and I'm really going to miss this Anime. It was so enjoyable to watch, the action was perfect and the characters were all amazing. With this season in particular they finished off previous plotlines and adventures fairly well and left no questions unanswered. We got to find out everything we needed to know about all main characters and in my eyes there was nothing more we needed.
Season 4 offered us a lot of laughs, tears and bloodshed all throughout the season, showing us exactly we love Castlevania. There were some incredible fights that kept me on the edge of my seat. There was also surprisingly some amazing romance. I still struggle to associate Castlevania with romance but they managed to pull it off so well especially in this season with the ending being the most fitting for the characters involved.
Season 4 was a brilliant way for the show to end and I'm glad I got to watch all 4 seasons of this. Hopefully we get to see some more from the creators of this, if you're reading this review before you watch it then all I have to say to you is.. Watch it!
A very satisfying ending to an excellent series.
So many shows botch their endings these days that the bar is fairly low for a final season. I was very happy to see Castlevania deliver. Don't get me wrong, it's not amazing or even that unique. But it is incredibly satisfying. Characters get closure, loose ends are wrapped up, there's no gotcha twist, and it isn't so happy or sad that you feel scammed. All of the characters get their time to wrap up their arcs and none of it feels forced or contrived.
One thing I really enjoyed was the palpable sense of weariness for Belmont and Sypha. They've been on this journey a long time and it's finally taking its toll. From Episode 1, there's a sense of unmaintainable pace, constant bruising, and increasing fatigue. At one point, Belmont states, "All we've been doing for weeks is reacting, being bounced from one thing to the next." And it really feels like that, which makes a satisfying ending all the more desirable. The characters need rest and you, as the viewer, desperately want that for them.
One nitpick I have is the amount of action. I get that it's fantasy and it's the final season so you want it to go out with a bang but I felt like they could have shortened a lot of the action sequences. Not even remove them, just shorten them. Also, I had to laugh a little at Hector's love and devotion to Lenora as if she didn't manipulate and imprison him. Especially since Lenora shows little, if any, remorse and even seems like she believes she did good for him. But these really aren't enough to detract from the season as a whole.
Overall, an excellent ending for an excellent series that I will definitely revisit at some point.
You'd think after Dracula's death the show would have ran out of steam, but instead it delivered my favorite season thus far. Amazing.
Isaac's arc in particular is fascinating to me.
nine chapter is wonderfull. war war war waaar :)
That was incredible. There were so many good lessons, so much growth and development. I think my favourite characters were Alucard and Isaac.
After the incredible emotional journey in season 1 and 2, I wasn't sure what they could do in season 3 and 4. I just have no idea how to express myself about this show. I'm so glad I undertook the rewatch of season 1/2 so I could have better context for the rest of the series.
There were so many simultaneous storylines that were each so equally gripping and emotional. I loved Isaac's journey. Alucard being manipulated, feeling alone and turning into his father, then meeting people again and finding value in human connection. Trevor and Sypha are literally the perfect couple - something I particularly liked was seeing then get worn down and drained to the end. Trevor's cloak even becomes more tattered. Hector never gives up his childishness and innocence really, but finds freedom in his own way.
Things just got so insane by the end I was practically screaming at my computer.
I think for me, though, I really needed that tragic ending. Sypha, Alucard and Trevor overcome things almost so spectacularly easily. Yes, I know they're incredible warriors...they're practically immortal when it comes down to it, despite being human, I think I needed Trevor to die at the end of the show - but it all worked out too nicely. Even Lisa and Vlad came back from hell after being used for the Rebus...and they were completely fine.
The magic concepts in the show were so vast and deep, so mysterious and overwhelming. I loved the sequence with Saint Germain - dude you're really going to destroy the world so you can get a li'l pussy?
I will say that.. I did feel that a few of the characters did kind of have some 2edgy4me lines like "God is standing right in front of you and soon, very very soon, he's going to have sex again", or "Why is it that only human hands can reach into hell? Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up?" - is it though? humans can decide who can go to heaven and hell through some magical god - they burned Lisa Tepes as a witch and she went to hell despite not being evil - does it matter than that humans can access hell?
Amazing show, comparably emotionally (for me) to Devilman Crybaby. Do not miss it.

I'll say it. Castlevania is the best video game adaptation ever. Everything I wanted, I got it. It was beautiful, it was thrilling, it was emotional, and best of all, it was satisfying. Perfect ending for one of the best animated shows out there. Oh yeah and the animation quality itself is insane. Watch this if you haven't right now.
