a murmur that captures the zeitgeist of our time.
I hate looking in the mirror
this show tries to be a lot of things but it fails to be anything worthwhile. show isn't clever, memorable or exciting at all. characters are so shallow yet writers try to give the impression that every character has a purpose. they do not. none of the plot elements go anywhere and story is such a burden to go through with no rewards at the end.
I started to watch this show because I heard it was deep and explored some aspects of human nature. it does not. show is shallow with so much wasted potential.
if you're reading rewievs to decide weather to watch or not DO NOT WATCH IT. even for killing time. this show doesn't deliver on anything.
What a labor to watch. It’s clear the writers thought they tapped into something -but apocalyptic scenarios are not hard to find on tv, so they really didn’t. The idea seemed to be “lets show these characters humanity instead of the impending doom of other apocalypse themed shows.”
Unfortunately, its moments of doing that is exactly where it falters. You can’t expect an audience to give a wholesome reception to characters they don’t care for. I didn’t see evidence of why an audience should care for anyone here :from Carol to her nudist parents and their lover/nurse on some cruise, her workplace friends and a random dude named Jeff. Entire episodes are committed to subplots of these characters. I’m reminded of the “never do” writers rule, “Don’t put a hat on hat.” This show layers little boring hats on its premise - the actual hat, they are all facing imminent doom. Without spoiling the arcs of these cartoon people in their final months the show seems like some overqualified writers needed a gig during the pandemic and wrote a season off a 3 line treatment. If you want to just lean back and follow their little hats, fine, but don’t expect big laughs or memories.
I really enjoyed this series, it's kooky humour and eccentric mannerisms from people trying to cope with a terrible truth as a society. In spite of it's sunshine moments, I did feel very melancholy while watching this though.
Carol makes me feel akward

I liked this show. But I feel like it wasn't as profound, clever or interesting as it thought it was, or needed to be to pull off being objectively pretty boring. It's fine to have nothing happen, but the nothing has to happen in a compelling way, and it doesn't really compel. You can only rely on being #relatable for so long. I didn't expect it to fully 'conclude' but there's no real sense of any conclusion whatsoever, it just trails off.
