Netflix tries to sell this as “co-created” by the creators of Norsemen, so naturally, being a huge Norsemen fan (one of the funniest shows on Netflix, in case you haven’t seen it yet), I put this series on the top of my watchlist.
Episode 1 left me unimpressed. There were perhaps 2-3 chuckle-worthy moments, but that’s about it when it comes to the comedy aspect.
We get a glimpse of the criminality aspect in this first episode, and this part felt at least potentially promising.
Unfortunately though, the animation style is beyond bland. I’m fully convinced by now that these production studios all churning out these identical looking animated series, are using plug and play software to turn animating into an industrial process rather than an art, which is very unfortunate. Without going too deep into the animation style here, I am in no way inclined to keep watching an animated series if the animation is lazily made with nothing of interest going on visually. It all looks the same, hastily made to serve as the vehicle for the story and the jokes, both of which are lacking as well.
The only highlight for me personally was Adam Devine voicing Jonathan’s brother. So not a whole lot.
All in all, I’ll give ep 2 a chance, but with a bland animation style, and severely lacking comedy, I’m not really expecting to get sucked in.
This is so boring and there’s no emotional impact of anything it’s like they just wrote a bland script with bland animation and then expected people to automatically care about the characters
