After rewatching it for the third time followed by the movie, I consider this anime a masterpiece.
By the way for whatever reason cicadas cry here as well
While I thoroughly enjoyed the series itself, the ending presented in the movie was extremely disappointing. I'd honestly recommend skipping it altogether and staying with the open ending series presented.
Majority of the episodes are uneeded, the story only starts moving near the end.
